They don't hold a monopoly on stupidity, it's incredibly common. Apparently infectious even reasonably sensible people get stupid if exposed too much of it.

it seems to be getting more and more relevant though. Maybe it just gets more airtime but newsreports about extreme right (or skindheads like they are so often called in the news) violence are getting more and more common.

not here any way, but from the top of my head i can at least think of 3 accidents of racist violence in the last half year (yeah, we're a small country, 3 is a lot :p), not to mention that a party once convicted of racism is one of the largest of Belgium.
i hope they'll lose the upcoming elections, but that's probably wishfull thinking :( (also note that i'm not really comparing their voters to the average stormfronter, only talking about the relevance of extreme rightism (is that even a word?)) (i'm using way to much ")"'s)
Now on a serious note they believe in this kind of stuff because they are ignorant. 5 monthes ago there was a kid in my class cheering on the nazis but when I taught him what they really did and what kind of people they are his face sunk, he stopped smiling, and he started to hold back tears. They believe in these kind of things because they believe what they think is right and what everyone else thinks is wrong, they pity themselves and now one else, they don't care who they hurt or who they offend, they don't go into anything with an opened mind. And all of that because they are ignorant, uneducated, assholes. And most of the crime committed in the world is because the person committing it are uneducated.
