Apparently the compromise is starting to unravel. How many of you think that this will actually make it through to the President's desk? To me, it is not very likely. Why do I say this? To many people are against it and both sides are ready to fight against it.

I found the whole thing stupid.

1. They are already here. Kind of late to think about building a fence...

2. Our unemployment rate is at a historic low. So don't cry to me about the ranks of the unemployed. We're not France.

3. Most "illegal" immigrants are hardworking people who are willing to work jobs that the remaining unemployed Americans are unwilling to do. More power to those immigrants.

4. I think that instead of a stupid fence, and stupid procedures, they should just say that if you've been working here for a year, and have stayed out of trouble with the police, you and your family just need to raise your right hands and be sworn in as US citizens.

Then they can be taxpayers. And enjoy the benefits.

I've already written my bonehead RHINO Senators about this. The only thing that will make me consider voting for their re-elections is if, before any consideration of amnesty is given, a stand-alone bill is passed to require the control of immigration through the control of our borders. We cannot continue to grant amnesty every few years because immigration is unmanageable.
