Hmmm....
Some of those blog responses sound very similar. A few of them are shortened versions of a longer early post (the "microcosm" statement). That's at least a little suspicious. Also the insult patterns are the same. It's "douche", "****" (UK listeners?) and the like, though that could be explained by the unifying Opie & Anthony fan vernacular.
The blogger has a point with folks willingly destroying their electronics. I wish I had that kind of money so's I could make more impressive anti-censorship stands like that. However, if you're canceling your service, I suppose the receiver becomes a paperweight.
Meh -- it's a wash. People protesting censorship that isn't censorship, and a blogger exposing a conspiracy that doesn't exist.
Opie & Anthony got fired because their BOSSES decided to as a result of pressure from various groups, just like Imus. They "pushed the envelope" and discovered the stall point. Now they're free-falling and out of a job. It would be censorship if the FCC or similar government agency banned their programming.
I say you let the market decide whether or not someone who acts like a cultureless twat on the radio keeps his job. I figure as long as you've got advertisers willing to pay for air time, you've got a show. When folks stop listening, can 'em.

That's the thing. They lost listeners after suspending/firing O&A. They lost advertizers after suspending/firing O&A. They caved in to a handful of whiners, now they're losing tens of thousands of listeners and at least two advertizers.
