Does anyone know the link to that programme that allows the browser windows in your windows xp to slant like in vista? I believe someone might have posted it here once, however search failed me.

Damn...
I remember this. Didn't Rhaomi post it?

I'll do a search and see if I can find it for you.

Damn you...
I searched for Vista's main selling point and it was the first result.

It's a useless waste of video resources, to say nothing of ram. Vista is an abomination.

Heh. I saw it on a friend's computer and I have to agree. Nice little machine that runs like a 486 ... why would you want that?

I wanted to do a clean install, because of the vendor's rubbish 'extras' being so far up the OS. I had a new HD to do it on, went looking for the Vista install CD/DVD.

No install disk. I searched the box, I googled it. I called up the shop which sold the 'puter. There is no install disk. You take the vendor's rubbish with the OS, or install a different OS. "Let's put XP on it" was my advice, but he's yet to see the light. Still mesmerized by the shiny stuff, sits there gazing at it and not using the computer

And what's worse is that Microsoft will stop supporting XP soon.

"Windows Vista, the screensaver that looks just like an GUI."

To be fair, you can turn the eye-candy off and there are some new features which are good. The little arrows in the full path description, so you can jump up the heirarchy in one go. A firewall which isn't just on or off. A visual warning when you're doing administrator stuff (should be a lot less intrusive, but the idea is good.)

My boyfriend kept installing and uninstalling it - I think he's finally gone back to XP. His main reason for wanting to keep Vista? "But it's sooooo preeeetty..." And he knows a lot about computers, too. But the shiny and the 3D window thing just mesmerized him. :P
