Badly.
Virtually all of the songs I sing are from The Phantom of the Opera, anyway, so I have very little chance of recreating them well. They're not really opera pieces but still have a very good range and level of complexity within them.
I do a passable Bat Out of Hell, though.

Incidentally, yes. I'm a bass-baritone (E2-F4 comfort range, can push down to a D and up to an A with preparation). I'm not very good at maintaining falsetto though, which means if I try to stretch for that A (or up to a C on a really good day) my F#s are really going to suffer badly. :(

I was in chorus in the last two years of middle school and the first two years of high school, and I had some solos in middle school chorus. I guess I'm okay at singing, but I started hating my voice for some reason. Though all of my teachers and my father (a former music teacher) have said that I have a good voice, and I qualified for the All State Chorus (although my school only had two tickets to distribute, and there were some people with higher scores than me, so I didn't go.)

It means I sing in several choirs. (I also conduct occasionally, as well as arranging some pieces.) Sadly, illness forced me to quit the only choir I was in that paid more than a pittance, but as my health gets better I should be able to get back into such groups and hopefully go for my MFA, which will make choral work a much more profitable career (especially since that will start opening up professorships, should I choose to go that route). Thanks for the good wishes! :)

I voted Concert Proof, as I have a lot of vocal range (I can sing as low as a death grunter and higher than Geddy Lee), I can sing in tune and on key, and my voice is pretty robust (not overly deep, not too high).

However, I have a bit of trouble, as I'm still growing. Yeah, I kind of lose control of my voice sometimes. Think of the sound a cat makes when you pop a fire cracker an inch away from its face while it's sleeping, and there you go. I can keep it under control if I rehearse a song before I sing it, but if I just go at it without doing so, watch out...

After some 25 years as an ensemble singer for choral groups and soloist only with jazz ensembles (I one of a dying breed of vocal improvisers), I sang the bass solos in a huge local Lutheran church's yearly presentation of Messiah. As I said, I've never sung that much solo material in front of a full orchestra before, let alone an audience.

I've never had a bel canto solo voice. I've tried, much to the chagrin of the classical voice instructors at two levels of collegiate instruction. Needless to say, when I was asked, I accepted the challenge, and to get my name and face out to the public at large in Bismarck (just finishing my second year as university faculty here means I'm still very new). I was scared shitless, especially given that one of the solos was "The People That Walked in Darkness", which, if you don't know Handel, has this snake-like chromatic line that weaves all over the damn place.

Well, when I was done, people were saying that, for the first time in years, they actually heard the words of the arias I sang (diction is paramount for an ensemble singer), and I was the most solidly in tune bass soloist in recent memory. Nobody was impressed by my voice's tone or resonance, but I took those two superlatives as two things I know I'm good at (intonation and diction) and called it a victory.

Scratch off one more thing on my list of things to try before death.

I sing in several choirs at uni and was part of a close harmony group at my old school. I'm a bass (C2-E4) and generally is the one at the bottom of the texture rumbling away or mimicing a double bass :p It's perhaps my favourite instrument (voice) and I write choral music as well.

Yes, I can sing. And, judging from the comments and feedback I've gotten, it appears I do it fairly well, although I personally can't stand to hear a recording of my own voice, at least nottalking.

I can tolerate my own voice live, but a recording? If terrorists wanted to torture me, forcing me to listen to a recording of myself talking would be the most effective method.

But apparently people like to hear me sing. I consider myself a 'baritone', although I can do a little bit (I SAID A LITTLE BIT) of bass and tenor, as long as it isn't very high, say, more than 1/2 an octave above 'middle C' (without going into falsetto), or much more than an octave and a quarter below 'middle C'. I can go further down, but not audibly except to myself.

I did All-Borough, All-State and All-Northwest (State and NW on same demo, of two entirely)
Self-taught, from low bass (bass 3) to high soprano, using four different registers with varying success. The consequence of forcing a high range and high operatic treatment (another thing i was working on) ended up forcing my bass lower and lower, to the extent that any wood or likewise resonant materials near me when i spoke would vibrate so strong that it would sound like i was throwing my voice.
I don't do that as often now, because i've found that's a largely useless range in common conversation.
