So, as I ponder my potential lunch choices, I ask what are your favorite lunch options near your work place?

For me it's either Armand's Pizza, Julia's Empanadas or the Burrito Stand down K street.

I typically bring my lunch, seeing as how it's cheaper and healthier.

On Thursday though, I'm going to try one of those ciabatta sandwiches at Jack in the Box.

Man am I looking forward to that. :D

When I was younger I had a friend whose family was treated like that. They apparently went to the restaurant so much that whenever they walked in the proprietors started cooking up my friend's favorite dish.

The day that happens I think will be the day i'll have to admit I have an addiction. Do any rehab centres deal in issues related to Chinese food?

well if i was working someplace that had a cafateria, i'd probable eat whatever they had there. or something off the roach coach if there was one that came by. but living at home, my lunch is like my breakfast and dinner: some kind of noodles/pasta, in some kind of broth, with some kind of proteen, and possibly a few other goodies of some kind or another thrown in with. sometimes rice instead, or, rarely a spud, or sometimes a salad with some sort of proteen in it, but noodles/pasta of some kind are generally the staple of my diet. breads, and thus sandwedges are kind of a last resort for me, unless of course, if i was working somewhere, i'd probably make up my own sandwedges or baritos or some such the night before to take with me, if, or as a chainge from, the first alternatives mentioned above.

There's fast food at uni. I usually go home to eat if I can. If not, I go for a pizza, hamburger, or a sub sandwich.

I make my own. Usually a cottage cheese (Asda do different flavours) and tomato sandwich, but cheese and tomato on toast happens fairly frequently, too.

I've got a stay-at-home job now, working over the internet type of stuff. (No, not a scam, peeps: a real job.)

So, as such, I eat what I figure would taste good from our large and diverse pantry. And since I've the cooking skills of a four star chef--skills I inherited from my parents who WERE four star chefs for some time--I can get away with lots of fun stuff you'll not see in most restaurants. And all on the cheap.

Mostly bring my own to work. The local grocery store does not offer much of the vegetarian variety. At Uni, we can eat a nice lunch for € 2.35. I usually do that, if studying.

the hospital where i go to school sells really cheap food to students (less than €2) for a full hot meal, but i don't often eat there. i do buy quite a lot sandwiches (or how do you call that? french bread with for instance cheese and vegetables on it?). There is also this place called bigfood or something where they sell french bread of 0.5m with delicious stuff on it. My personal favorite is the vegeterian sandwich, wich has feta and a lot of vegetables, mmmm, i want one now.

I am about 15 feet away from the kitchen.

other than that......it's about 2 miles to a Sonic, and about 6 miles to a Mc Donald's, Taco Bell, Sonic, Long John Silvers, A&W, KFC, and Popeye's chicken.

I get treated like that not only at a Mexican place in my hometown, a coffee shop on campus, and the campus burger joint -- the burger joint especially, because I've NEVER paid full price, and still manage to get stuff that's not on the menu. (The cook brings me home-grown jalapenos when I'm getting over a cold, so I get a super-freakin-spicy cheeseburger and feel better in a heartbeat!)

Panini sandwiches are outstanding. Gotta love ham, salami, provolone cheese, zesty olive oil spread, black olives, and pepperonchinis on an Italian roll. They're cheap, they're big, and they taste better than just about anything Subway (or any chain deli) can make.

Then, there's pizza...

I'll generally go home for lunch, if I eat it at all. Or it'll be an almagam of lunch and breakfast, and take the form of a pasty, on the way into my lectures, from Cooplands.

Not so much a lunch place, but a great place I have gone to after hangovers is Steak & Egg up on Wisconsin Avenue.

I used to eat at New York Gourmet Deli (on 19th, I think) when I worked on K street. Of you get there around 11, they have really good sushi.
