Movies to Rent
So, as of late, I've been finding myself quite bored with everything I have to entertain me. As such, I'm looking for some movies to rent. Have any recommendations? I'm looking more specifically at newer movies--within, say, the last nine months or so--than older movies, though any old goodie that I probably haven't seen would be a nice recommendation too.
So...what's out there?
Did you see Thank You For Smoking? That was hilarious...
Starship Troopers, and Super Troopers, for the lulz.

Starship Troopers, and Super Troopers, for the lulz.
Hey, that's a classic. :sniper: (That's right, gun smilie.)
Also, I enjoyed:

Very touching.

Network it was made in 1976, and it is rather old, but none the less great.
Its actually quite relevant today, and it's a satire on the way T.V has become such a powerful tool in business, economics, and politics. It even explores themes like, how politics and the news are set aside for the sake of ratings, and viewer's entertainment, even if what they are showing is blatant propaganda.
So much to it!
Its old but its possibly one of the best satires ever written and filmed

Thank-you for Smoking was fantastic. Quite liked it.
Apocalypto will be out on Tuesday, and it's at least worth a watch, despite some obvious hitsorical bias and Mel Gibson message.
I thought Blood Diamond was worth watching, and so was the Queen, (if your tastes run to such things.) That's the best of the lot that I've seen on DVD over the last month. My brain's not functioning on anything prior to that...

Rent? What is this, the 80s?
Anyway, I recommend Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

It depends.
I dont expect more from a movie then what should be so my tastes are pretty broad.
I just watched Pan's Labrynth and I thought was a good movie.
Oldy:
Raise the Red Lantern
SFW(So Fucking What) I thought this movie was fun I m not sure why.
Assault on Precinct 13(The Original, not the bullshit new one)
New Movies:
Pan's Labrynth
Blood Diamond
Smokn Aces
The Departed

Sorry. :( It was the atropine talking, honestly.
Eww! Why is Blood Diamond even being suggested? Or am I the only one who watched the last half hour of that movie?
So much potential wasted on such a cliche, crappy ending.
Did you see Thank You For Smoking? That was hilarious...
Yes. I also saw Idioocracy, though I regret seeing that one.
Starship Troopers, and Super Troopers, for the lulz.
Okies.

Oh, yes, that's one I've been meaning to obtain a copy of. And yes, rent...there's a local movie renting store I can go to on Friday's to rent about twelve or so movies for five dollars. Ridiculously good deal, that.

Lost City wasn't bad.
Pan's Labrynth, Prestige, and Departed are the best movies I've seen all year.

You can also try Shortbus, just for the novelty. That is if you're old enough.

Prestige was okay, but the illusionist was better. Though it did tend toward a sappy predictable ending.
Just saw Running Scared, good, but again predictable ending.
Beerfest was bad, Employee of the Month was funnier.
Collateral is next up on my list....saw it in theaters, loved it then.
Thank-you for Smoking was fantastic. Quite liked it.
"Seal Hunter"...
Oh man...I was rolling at that one...
I can never remember, are you a guy or a girl?
Yes. :p
Biologically, I'm a male. Mentally, I switch between the two readily, just for fun.

Eh? I'm twenty years old, so I don't think I'd have a problem with anything, if that's what you mean.
Anyway, thank you all for the recommendations. Keep 'em coming! This thread'll probably help some other people too.

The combined suck of the sum of that movies suck is far suprassed by everything about Barry Badrinath.

I also recommend that recent movie with Bruce Willis, where he's the old drunk cop who's trying to take that black guy from one end of Manhattan to the other without getting killed. That scene in China-Town had me laughing pretty good! :p

I meant if you were old enough to rent it. It contains sex scenes where you can see the genitals. In fact it opens with a scene of a couple having sex and a guy masturbating, autofellating and then some...

That "Black Guy" is Mos Def, and is a far better actor then Bruce Willis. He is good in just about any role he plays.

Ah...I see...well, no worries along the line of being able to rent it...it's a flat 18 or over renting policy for movies R and above, rating wise, at the movie rental place I spoke of.

That's a silly name. I do agree though, he was pretty good. Sounded kinda like Mike Tyson with that accent. :p I liked the ending.
V For Vendetta is beyond one of the best movies I've ever seen. You should check it out, has a lot of meaning.

I like obscure films......have you seen Muriel's wedding? It's not technically a "guy movie" but it's really good (if you like chick movies)
if not.....I don't know.
I really like "The Game" it's a guy movie, you have probably seen it though, it's pretty mainstream.
uh...Labyrinth?

I've not seen any of those, so I guess I'll check 'em all out. I rarely if ever go watch a movie in a movie theatre, hence why I often haven't seen this movie or that movie. I haven't seen any movie that's come out in the past nine months or so, hence my timeframe.

Muriel's wedding is the shit! I saw the first time when it came out and I was around ten and I've loved it ever since. Great to see that the main characters all went on to successful international careers.
Another great Aussie flick is jof course Priscilla - Queen of the Desert. My favourite film of all time. All nations need a cock in a frock on a rock, imo.

these are way old, but movies I think everyone should see at least once.
add to the list Canadian Bacon, it's much more hilarious under the current administration than it was when I saw it as a kid.

He is a respected rapper/writter/beat poet...his rap is too intellectual and beat for mainstream success. I actually hold him in fairly high esteem as far as artists go, he has integrity. He was also in Hitchhickers Guide to the galaxy.

If you haven't already seen these: (and yes, they're older than 9 months)
The Shawshank Redemption
Spaceballs (as mentioned before) or any Mel Brooks movie for that matter
any Monty Python movie
and I've heard the Departed was really good

I would particularly recommend Factotum, it is based on a Charles Bukowski book and (I think) the cast was superb.

Though the premise seems a bit shaky--not to mention cliched--it does sound interesting, so I'll give it a shot. Syankuu.

I’d highly recommend Michel Gondry’s new effort, The Science of Sleep.
A charming, yet at times bleak romance flick from the director of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
