The Wiki provides no information on what is stance on the issues are. Personally, if he is a typical liberal, I can't vote for him. I simply disagree too much with the diehard Democrats. On the other hand, if he is more moderate there is a chance. But I need information before I can make such a decision.

Good idea. I think I'll sign up for the Democratic primary, just to make sure I can vote against the other bums. God knows that no one worth voting for is running on the Republican side. Plus, there is only one Libertarian candidate, so there's no point in voting independent.

Let's see, he voted for the Federal Defense of Marriage Act (Though defeated it later...What's up with that?)

Toughened Sex Offender Laws (The "toughening" just makes them less likely to reassimilate into society, and screws over relatively harmless people, like streakers.)

Supports death penalty

Voted No on maintaining writ of Habeas Corpus for death penalty appeals...

Voted to make getting a death penalty appeal harder...

Doesn't want to legalize drugs, because they play a role in crime (THAT'S BECAUSE THEY'RE ILLEGAL!)

Mandatory jail time for selling illegal drugs.

Well, considering the percentage of asians versus the amount of representation in your congress, it's DEFINITELY not proportional. There's just a stupid persistent racial stereotype where Asians are considered math people, and not politician material.

That is, though, in many ways a stereotype we further on our own. The vast majority of asians my age are going into science and engineering fields. Or becoming premeds.
There are plenty of law students, but they're interested in law, generally, and not just using it as a stepping stone.
It's also generally because asians are fairly spread out over the country. Except for here in Jersey, where we're approaching critical mass and possibly (I think) getting a few state congressmen and state senators into office.

He seems to be the most experienced with foreign policy and energy policy, which are two of the many HUGE issues our current president has no grasp of. I would like to know more about his domestic policy. Right now, however, he's my #1 pick on the list of candidates I'd vote for. Unfortunately, I'll only be 16 (going on 17 tralalalalala) during the '08 election.

It's rare in American politics. Al Smith in 28(?) was the first to run for President. Obviously JFK was Catholic, but it was a big problem with nativists: they think we Catholics are going to turn over America to the Pope or something.

As a New Mexican, some comments on recent actions here. He plays the hispanic card, but he's a very untypical hispanic. He's never earned an honest dollar (i.e. he's always been a politico or governmental type). He plays and says what gets votes or advances Bill. As a US Representative he was strongly anti-WIPP, but when Secretary of Energy pushed very hard to get WIPP open. His comments about WIPP depend on what part of the state he's in. (Believe or not Richardson, Representative, was suing Richardson, Secretary, about opening WIPP. His lawyers had a grand old time sorting that one out!) He's a power seeker and demanded that ALL appointees resign even though virtually all had time left on their appointments. His NM cabinet appointments don't seem all that hot, as they are political hacks/party supporters.

He has a few good points. He's very active about things that interest him (e.g. foreign policy). He likes Snickers Bars. He has been clocked at about 90 mph in a state vehicle on the road between Albuquerque and Santa Fe.

Having said all this, he's the best Democrat running. No Republican comes close. All in all, a very dismal situation for the voter...

Oh, you're right--diversity is far more than that. Problem for the Republicans seems to be that their diversity seems to be based on the "who can torture more" sort of platform, or the "I'm the most like Reagan" platform. Ron Paul really is the only one who isn't just like all the others, but half of his ideas are batshit insane, so what good does that do?

I can say, with a certain degree of confidence, that the Republican party will not be in control of the executive branch after the elections of 2008.

It seems to be a trend:
Democrat party helps people, yay.
Times are good so we want to keep it that way and not spend tons more money, so we vote Republican.
Its good for a while, but then those Cons start getting all stingy and starting crazy war badness.
So we vote Democrat again.

There is no way in hades I'd vote for a racist anti-Anglo like Richardson.

My father worked for the New Mexico Highlands University for several years. To make a long, complicated story short, Richardson ousted the board of regents because they didn't re-hire a president who was pushing a Hispanic first agenda. He then arranged his crony Manny Aragon to be appointed President. Aragon persued a similar agenda, in which Anglos were discriminated against in hiring and grants of tenure.
