Poke'mon or Star Wars?

My sister and I have been having an argument on whether Poke'mon or Star Wars is better. My sister also says Nationstates is retarted. Anyway, I'd like to hear what NS users have to say.

Pokeymen are corny. Star wars is a series of kid's movies. Nationstates is for weirdos. I voted meep.

That's like comparing a seven course meal at Tavern on the Green to a bag of flour. Or Shogun to Might Morphin Power Rangers.

Star Wars is a developed universe with a complex political structure and history.

Pokemon is so crudely developed that, though all animals have combat abilities, human level intelligence, and the ability to talk (though all most of them say is their own name) there are still no obvious vegetarians, and they seem to keep avoiding the subject of what it is that people eat. Because even mortally wounded animals simply disappear for a while to come back refreshed.

Star Wars is supposed to be accessible to children, but appreciable by adults. Pokemon is designed to appeal to 7-year olds with ADHD and the younger siblings who want to be like them.

Star Wars > Pokemon.

Seriously, there is absolutely no contest whatsoever. It's like comparing a steak dinner to eating broken glass.

Is this a serious question? Comparing Pokemon and Star Wars brings to mind the apples/oranges analogy anyway.

Hmm... on the one hand, we have one of the more annoying fads of the last ten years. On the other hand, we have a once-decent movie franchise that got raped by its creator over the last 10-20 years.

Meep.

If we're going to have to talk about Pokemon, we should talk about Super Smash Bros. characters that just happen to be Pokemon. That could actually lead to something interesting.

Let's see.

Star Wars - Children's franchise which continues to be developed purely for merchandising purposes. Has a half-naked woman painted green with two tails stuck to her head in it. Characters can travel faster than the speed of light by way of hyperspace.

Pokemon - Children's franchise which continues to be developed purely for merchandising purposes. Has a completely naked yellow creature. Characters can travel faster than the speed of light by moving the background scenery really really fast and glowing for no apparent reason.

I have to choose Star Wars purely because of the half-naked woman in green.

To quote Nazz, "You're not just comparing apples to oranges. You're comparing apples to the space dust that makes up the fucking Crab Nebula."

I voted 'meep'.

Not because Pokemon (as a franchise) is pretty terrible, and driven entirely by need for maximum dollar input.

Not because Starwars is one of the few things that makes Pokemon look like artistic integrity and compassion.

But because, in the cartoon "The Maxx" (and the Sam Keith comic, on which it was based) the little alien dudes called Isz (Isz's?) say 'meep'.

And, The Maxx rules.

Both are equally as great.

Though, I have, and still do, derive more enjoyment out of Pokémon than I have or do from Star Wars

Add NS, Star Wars and Pokemon to make an awfully screwed up but cool anime, sci fi series dedicated to NS and their posters.

It was a fun Gameboy game, but little more. I kinda lost interest due to its sequels being so similar and having to start with a single low-level pokémon each time.

Oh, and btw, press ctrl+alt+e to make é.

I actually like Pokemon but I don't really think it's fair to compare the two. They're not really in the same league/category, you know?

And NationStates rules, don't let anybody tell you otherwise.

Pokemon was HUGE in Canada...at least I know it was when i was a kid like 10 years ago, My 9 year old brother still watches the show and plays the game so I guess it's still pretty popular......actually this one guy in my 12th grade History class still follows pokemon almost religiously....:( it's pretty sad

Orange islands, Pok`emon + the original Kanto ROCKED!!!!!!! AS the seasons went on they got weaker and less violent. Overcensored for lack of better phrasing. Star Wars too is on a give or take basis. Som episodes were all together great, some just certain parts. Star Wars had cool battles but I wish there were more.
_________________________________________________________________
Remeber those season 1 episodes of Pok`emon. Yeah when Mewtwo came everyone was sooooo freakin' excited. All the battlesa were cool and Ash wasn't so lame. Plus there were always new mysterys to uncove and theyt were far superior animated to today's Pok`emon seasons. AS much as Pok`emon has declined in recent years I still find ity a real shame that its not on any local channels with new episodes in New York. I don't know about LA or other cities but in New York its not on anymore except reruns on Cartoon Network. Oh and the cards were better too. Pok`emon games were and are simply AWESOME and always will be.

And lets not forget that episode in Japan which caused kids to have siezures and even more people to have siezures whwn they replayed that part on the 6 o'clock news.

Depends whether you're talking about the anime or the games. I know that most people that play the games competitively are older. Quite frankly I couldn't care less about the anime. This is going to be an interesting year for game sales statistics too Halo 3 vs Pokemon... who will win?
Skoposh
20-05-2007, 05:13
The pokemons will win (although Star Wars is better) because it's never ending they can always extend the series and list of teh pokemons by 'Magically' finding some new place to go...
I know I always find new animals when randomly traveling and then *OMG!!!!!1* a new place wow it just popped out of nowhere. Lets go explore it with this random chick who is here because if there were only guys we'd seem more gay.

And if you go to googlefight it's
Starwars Pokemon

Google says Pokemon is three times as popular... so it's no going away anytime soon.

 How many pages google can find on something =/= it's popularity. Not only is that stupid by itself, Google searches subpages too. So maybe each Pokemon site has 3 times as many pages on it.

I personaly hate both. 'Though Pokemans got me for a while I recovered.

Star Wars: What the hell is stop the beam of the lightsabers? Isn't light supposed to go indefinitly?

Pokemon: saying the same sugar-coated gibberish over and over angain, a language does not make.

Oh, and here. (http://jeffmilner.com/backmasking.htm) warning: It may shock or amuse you depending on if you have a kid.
