The one that I was afraid to enter? Yeah... that one... yeah. Well, for those of you whom I haven't bragged to already (:p)....

Back in February I submitted a short story to the NCETA (North Carolina English Teachers Association) writing contest... and yes, this was the entire state of North Carolina. Well, I didn't think I would win. It was actually my first time entering a writing contest. I didn't even think I'd place in the top 10 (who woudl get published) in the prose division (there was a poetry division too). So I waited three months for a reply, and kind of lost confidence.

But... I finally did get a reply, in my fourth-bell Creative Writing class.

I won FIRST PLACE.

So, not only do I get to be in the local newspaper(s) AND published, I get $250 too. :D :D

Okay... this might seem like a blog... but I'll post my story later, if this thread doesn't get deleted. And I'm warning you-- this short story pwned freshmen, sophomores, juniors, AND seniors all over hte state of North Carolina.

(I got my poetry critiques back. One guy gave me all 5/5 and one 4.5/5! I hope it goes to the state portion.
