Fox News: Our polls are inaccurate (when they don't support the candidates we like)

Fox News explains why Ron Paul is doing so well in their polls. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pz7XsSl3wIg&NR=1)

My favorite:
Again, this is not necessarily a scientific study, but I think it's interesting because who's text messaging; is it the younger crowd?

Because we all know that old people who don't know a telegraph from a phonograph are the only people that vote in the actual election.

So what do you think?
Is this all a vast interweb conspiracy?
Or are voters taking notice of a candidate that isn't completely full of shit?

for anyone to say "this is not necessarily a scientific study" shows how stupid he is.

a text message poll cannot be anything but a "vast interweb conspiracy" because people must have texting capabilities, watch foxnews, have watched the debate, have thought that ron paul did best (or have a desire to see him at the top of the poll) AND to have bothered to spend time and money texting that option.

They didn't take a random sample, I'd say it's probably not especially accurate. Same as internet polls, you only get the opinions of people who see the poll is available and opt to give their opinion.

Yeah, but isn't that the way an election works, too?
Apparantly, you can only vote once per cell phone, so it's not a case of American Idol Syndrome.

Yeah but no one is dense enough to claim that the election is in any way representative of people's opinions about our leaders. If they were Congress would be exiled by now.

The poll is made of fail, there's no "Vast liberal media conspiracy" option. Damned liberal Fox news!

Nothing they have said on the show shows how the bias leaned but there is bias

That being said Text messaging as a sample method is horrible practice if their attempt was to be scientific it fails

Ron Paul is very against the War in Iraq.
Democrats are very against the War in Iraq
Democrats are allowed to vote in those polls.

Draw your own conclusions.

That said Ron Paul has my vote even though I know one of the, quote/unquote, "top-tier" will get the Republican nomination. I'm going to write his name in. I agree with the way he thinks on to many issues to dismiss him because I disagree with a few of his ideas.

It's totally unscientific, that's why.

It's a self selecting poll of a limited segment of the population: Those who use text messages.

I shouldn't say I like Ron Paul. Every Republican I've ever considered voting for has been demolished in the primaries.

Forbes and McCain, most prominently.

Well...he seems rather reasonable, although he is pro-life he does want to leave it up to states (Although states shouldn't be able to prohibit people from leaving the state to have an abortion.), though one thing worries me...is he against the government regulating pollution and monopolies and stuff?

Reading the "On the Issues" page, he seems to be...acceptable, as far as republicans go.

I don't like his views on gay adoption, and...HOLY FUCKING SHIT HE THINKS WE SHOULD ABOLISH THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND...calm...let's keep reading...
Constitutional amendment on school prayer? In favor of it or banning it?
Don't like how he voted against the Kyoto Protocol
The list on there of enviroment votes seems enviromentally friendly, but the people gave him a low rating...
I don't like how he voted against Net Neutrality

I'd say he's full of shit, but not as full of shit as the rest of the Republicans.

He's pro-life, anti-environmentalist, anti-immigration.

He also happens to be against the death penalty, Patriot Act, and War in Iraq.

Err a vast left-wing conspiracy to completely discredit Fox. There we go. Maybe.

That is why I put no stock in polls when it comes to the Internet.

let us not forget that Ron Paul only got 400,000 votes or so when he ran as a Libertarian in 1988. This guy does not have a chance in hell.

He was also running on the libertarian ticket, which greatly reduces visibility.

That's because those who vote in Republican primaries are primarily Republicans, thus douchebags. If more states had open primaries you would have much better Republicans. Of course, you'd also have increased douchebaggery on the Dems' side.

Err a vast left-wing conspiracy to completely discredit Fox. There we go. Maybe.

Air America used to do that. I still remember the first one they did. FOX had a poll to see if people thought Hamilton should be replaced with Reagan. It was running about 80% 'yes.' Then Sam Seder started telling his listeners to vote 'no.' His show used to come on at 7:00pm. By 9:45 the poll was 75% 'no.' By morning the poll no longer offered a yes/no option. It was "which bill should have Reagan's face on it, the 5, 10, or 20?
