Any parent of sound mind would try to talk their kid out of robbing the jewelery store, not offer to drive the getaway car. Also I wonder if the kid would have given his mom a cut of the loot. It would have been the decent thing to do.

Robbing a jewellery store is stupid enough, but giving a lift to the person doing it? Come on. No ones that thick. (Except her, of course.).

stupidity in itself is a crime. She should have gotten much more than just 3 years for even considering helping her kid go through with robbing a store...let alone driving him to it knowing 100% what he was going to do.

I don't remember what his story was. It was either the mother was a nut, or the dad was. Either way, Ed Gein (the guy who inspired TCM) had one mentally unstable parent that helped shape himself.
