Have you ever met someone who has no job and lives with and off of their parents, then when asked to get a job complain about rights and being an adult, etc? Yeah, I was listening to Mama Mia! and for some reason I thought about this.

Most of the people I have known who have been in such a situation have never complained when asked to get a job. I myself was in such a situation for a while, and I was glad when I was yanked forcefully out of my funk.

Now I'm a little overworked, but that's my choice.

Yeah, I was listening to Mama Mia! and for some reason I thought about this.

Not sure where the connection lies, but that's fine...I'm no ABBA fan. :p

There's a difference between living off one's parents when one is fourteen, and being 40, unemployed, and playing XBox 360 all day.

Well, I've sort of been such a person. I am living in my parents' attic at present, and I'm only working part-time, but both of those are caused by my health, not by any desire to be lazy. I'd love to be able to get a full-time job and move back out (or, even better, go back to school and move back out), and as soon as my health allows me to do so, I will.

My daughter has no job and lives with and off me. She frequently complains that she is an adult and should be treated as such.

To be fair though, she's only just gotten her MPH and is looking for work. But I'm really tired of her living with me.

I had a friend who is like that. 30 years old now and plays WoW all day long, complaining about his health problems that directly stem from his weight problems that directly stem from him sitting on his butt all day long eating the food his mother cooks for him and brings to him at his desk. I think he leaves his house once a week to go to his d&d sessions.

He says 'I could lose weight and get a job and move out if I wanted to... but I don't want to, and nobodies making me, so I'll stay!' and then complains some more about how his body hurts because of his health issues.

:headbang: I don't know how I'd deal with it if I managed to raise a kid that was that level of co-dependant and lazy and opportunistic. I'm hoping I'm a better parent than that. We'll see, won't we :D

My stepbrother. Complained about living at home at the age of 18, not going to college, not being able to get money, etc. etc. etc.

Living alone right now at the age of 20, and my parents are trying to get him to come back. So I might have that to look forward to now...
