At The Drive In Or The Mars Volta?

My friend and I are having a debate over which band is better, more influential and more acclaimed. I say the Volta.

Try to keep the thread about these two bands.

Neither of these bands have any influence over me, given that I haven't heard of them.

Seems like an ideal opportunity for a nice slice of poll.

Personally, I prefer The Mars Volta.

I don't care for either.

I have liked much music made after Bon Scott's death.

I prefer Sparta . . .

And, no, making a reference to a recent gay snuff film would not be a clever response to this post.

Personally, I think the Mars Volta is a superior band purely because their styles vary so much. In concert, Cedric belts out spectacular vocals while Omar goes psychadelic on the guitar. All the while, Cedric defies gravity while hanging onto the microphone stand for dear life. On the other hand, At the Drive-In's music, while unique and entertaining in its own right, is not exactly as in-your-face at a live show than the Mars Volta's. Cedric's vocals are sort of downplayed in my opinion in AtDI and they truly come out in the Mars Volta's pure sound.

Sorry it's a long post, but I love Cedric and Omar and have seen them live. As you can see, that is my one dividing factor.

Mars Volta, although I'm not a huge fan of either band (and in fact only posted here to get my 1100 post and be a H4x0r0r :p)
