Most awkward moments in television history

I'm watching the rehashing of the drunk disease storyline from Star Trek in Star Trek: The Next Generation and it has to have the most pointless and awkward moment in tv history - Tasha Yarr successfully seducing Data. Yes, she seduced an android who then went into her bedroom with her after a set of thinly-veiled innuendos. Awkward and entirely pointless.

Not entirely unrelated, in the movie 'Johnny Dangerously' when the characer, Danny Vermin is showing off his new gun, an eighty-eight magnum and he says of it, "It shoots through schools!"

That scene is just about the only scene in the history of media that actually grows more awkward with each passing year. :p

I don't think that was pointless, it's an important question. Robots don't reproduce so they obviously don't do sex or even have a gender. But on the other hand gender and sex are important aspects of human interaction. So if you build a robot to interact with humans on an equal level do you ignore those aspects since they are irrelevant to the robot or do you build the robot with a gender and functional "equipment" because those aspects are an important chapter in human interaction?

The most awkward TV moment I can recall right now was when a middle aged man and a younger hot blonde woman where commenting a sports event. The guy was talking about how important healthy food was for the competitors' shape. When he mentioned cucumber the chick suddenly beamed right at him with the biggest smile I've ever seen and squeaked "There are many ways to have fun with a cucumber!". It took him 5+ seconds before he could get another word out and carry on.

I don't know, what about the Cylon's back lighting up during sex in Battlestar Galactica II? What was the reason for that? It was pointless and silly.

Or how about the whole "Spock's Brain" episode from ST:TOS?

Or the Sara Sidle/Grissom love affair in CSI - that's just scary.

I could go on, but I'll stop now.

I think the following year's pussified dinner was WAY more awkward, I mean seriously-Rich Little? What county fair did they dig him out of? And rapping Karl Rove? Nothing could have said "insular" more. It was pretty clear with such a wuss showing that they had been struck to the bone by last years dinner.

T3h win.
Colbert's was the only Correspondent's dinner I've seen that wasn't horribly awkward. Of course, I was too young for Clinton's reign, so maybe it is just the Bush-effect that makes things terrible.

Also, I'm surprised this little dandy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDUIc1c5RiM) hasn't come up. Myers' reaction was the most perfectly wonderful thing to come out of Hurricane Katrina.

the only one I can think of was during a news cast.

This had most of the state of Michigan laughing for 2 days and a very embarrassed female news anchor who in the future, will likely think before she speaks. What happens when you predict snow but don't get any!
We had a female news anchor that, the day after it was supposed to have snowed and didn't, turned to the weatherman and asked:
"So Bob, where's that 8 inches you promised me last night?"
Not only did HE have to leave the set, but half the crew did too they were laughing so hard!

I remember seeing this on one of those collection of bloopers and practical jokes.

Stargate SG-1's two hundredth episode, "200."

Seriously...the entire freaking episode is one gigantic awkward moment. What the bloody hell were they thinking? If it's the one I'm thinking of it's one of the only ones I've seen recently, where a TV producer is visiting to research the possibility of doing a show based on SG-1. It's an old plot device for long running series, from Seinfeld to Sanford & Son.

I think if you took SW ep.II, edited out everything but the anakin emotional scenes (ie. half the movie), you would have one super-dense awkward mixture of fake tears and even faker angst. It would destroy the universe.
