okay, so it's way too early, I know......but whatever.

The good folks at NaNoWriMo have been nice enough to give us something to do in the summer.

I thought I would see if any of the people who did NaNo are willing/able/planning on doing this.....or if new people want to do it too.

Basic idea, in June you have 30 days to write a script of 20K words (it works out to be about 667 a day, which is way less than the November competition of 50K and 1667 words a day for a novel)

I had this weird dream/nightmare today that I thought would be an interesting horror movie...

There's this like prison/insane asylum place, being run by some nerdy guy (I guess he was inspired by the guy in the commercial for vacancy, the motel owner)...so any way, he tricks people into thinking that it's an apartment or hostel or some thing like that...so people rent out rooms and live there and...well...you know...In the dream one of the inmate people looked like George Costanza.........It was a weird dream............

hmm... I did NaNoWriMo for the first time last year (and won!), but I don't think I'll be doing this. I have a few ideas for tv shows but none for films.

I'll talk to my collaborator. We work best under external pressure. He failed at the novel NaNo, so he already has an account.

If we do it, then I'll likely be some variation on 'walrus' and he'll be Sous Rature. Or is, I should say.

We'll likely do it, and we'll likely fail. But maybe we won't. I'm guessing the script will be called Sam & Ralph.

well, anything I write ends up as a dark comedy, not exactly sure why......

but, I think I thought of a plot, and also I am working on dragging hubby along kicking and screaming to do a second play (which will actually end up a musical)

so I think I am doing 1.5 scripts.

I did 2 NaNo novels once, won on both.

Yeah, I got the email, what yesterday? But I neither have the time, nor am I interested in script writing. BUt it reminded me of how I really wanted to do a good/better novel for NaNo this year..

I may take a shot at a musical, I need to think about it and formulate a plan, etc.

Hmmm...

I was thinking of a story where two very preppy girls grow up together, and come senior year they get accepted to different colleges. The movie is set close to graduation, so it's like they're looking back. But it's much better that that. Much, much better. The ending is awesome. I don't want to reveal it, becaue it's SO TWISTED.... :D

I might give it a try, bit I don't know what to write about.

I'm thinking about doing it, not because I have a great deal of interest in writing plays/movies (dialogue has always been my weak point, to be honest), but simply because I had to drop out of NaNoWriMo last fall at the last minute when I found out that my November was going to be crazily busy. I may have minimal scriptwriting ability, but writing a lousy script might help make up for not having a chance to try writing a mediocre novel. :)

I haven't got time to write a script, but if any of you are looking for actors, I'm available.

I signed up as Chandelier and my brother signed up as BoneEagle. We're going to write it together. Don't know what we're going to write yet, but we'll come up with something.:)

The only thing that's stopping me is a lack of time

I know... but the same can be said about the "punk kid who turns his life around." the "ugly duckling who finds her confidence and her prince", the "misfit who becomes a hero of some type". the real difference tho, is in the storytelling. ;)

A great way to come up with ideas is to play your own kinda Whos Line Is It Anyway at home. I wonder if we could play it on NSG somehow. :p

Cool, that is a great little concept. And even though I'm in Australia, my holidays coincide so that is great. And believe it or not, I was literally already writing the beginnings of a script when I got distracted, checked NSG, and found this thread.

And how funny is that little 'plot machine' on the front page?

It is funny that I just stumbled onto this thread, because I did after getting distracted while I was actually just starting a new script hours earlier. This is a great little concept.
