This thread is inspired by OLD Atari video games (mostly the ones for consoles) , but in acuallity can be about any old games. Basically the discussion is limited to games at least 10 years old. My favorite Ancient Atari games: Bank Heist, H.E.R.O., and Seven Cities of Gold.

There was a racing game. I forget what it was called.

And Space Invaders and PacMan. Ahh, those were fun. But my favorite gaming days were in the Nintendo era.

Aye, them Nintendos were good. I remember when it was a big deal that the SNES just came out. And there was nothing quite like the original Super Mario Bros.

10 years ago was 1997, so I think an awful lot of games are contained in that bracket, like Fallout, Final Fantasy VII, and Lords of the Realm II. Now as for really old games, we have classics like Commander Keen, Prince of Persia (none of that 3D business), Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure, TMNT: Turtles in Time, and a whole lot of other NES and SNES games.

I just recently (within the last year) sold my Atari 2600 along with all 45 games that I had acquired for it. I played a LOT of Pac Man, Mrs. Pac Man, Breakout, Super Breakout, etc.

My favorite of favorites though, was Space Invaders.

Tha's true. Mostly I mean games from the 80's (and possibly 70's).

Atari had some good games.

But Sega Master had R-Type and that was a great game.

Pitfall and Frogger, couldn't get enough of those.

I played a ton of Defender, Tempest, Centipede...with the quarters I spent on Joust alone could probably bought me my own arcade machine. Battlezone, loved that game. Red Baron was harder to come by, but that was even better.

I totally forgot I had that.....because I had it on my NES. If I get into NES games that I played/loved we are all in trouble.

I remember getting my first video game (a GameBoy pocket) when I was 5, so whatever I played on there would be more than 10 years old. It was probably Mario or something. We got a Super NES later, and my family's favorite game was Donkey Kong Country. Not sure how old that is though. My parents also had an old Atari that we used sometimes. I remember beating my brother at the football game by like 80 points, only to discover that his controller thing really wasn't working...and there was a basketball game where the ball was a square. I remember that.

Not an Atari, but for the Sega Mega Drive (Genesis?!... c’mon) you’ve can’t beat a bit of Road Rash, especially Road Rash 2.

The theme for the Hawaii track is one of the best game themes ever made.

Yeah they were huge on the Atari.

My friend had this game where you shot fish in a barrel. Game wins.

Combat FTW. Seriously--when you would get your opponent over in a corner and you were bouncing a bullet off 15 walls and spinning him and he couldn't do shit? I was always the guy spinning and cursing. ;)

A few years ago - well, probably 5 or 6 now - my roomie and I decided we were going to beat SMB 3 without using any whistles. She had this old NES that would flip out on you if you bumped it. We ended up starting at least 3 times because somebody would bump the machine and we'd have to restart it and lose the game. I think it took us about a week to get through all of it, playing in between studying/going to class/working/etc.

There was this one game, I think it was either Atari or Sega Genesis where you actually get to fly the F-117 Nighthawk, and the aircraft was blue for some reason. It was awesome and it sparked my life long hobby of aviation.

Haunted House, on the original Atari. :)

And just to show my age, the first video game I played was on a black & white Pong TV console, which my older brother bought. It had no cartridge slot, even, just variations of Pong hard coded in ROM. You had switches you could throw to make your paddles small, and to change the ball speed, etc.

Thinks... would've been around 1980.

I'm not aware of any other F-117 sims....was it that one? I'm pretty sure that there were console versions, but that's a pic of the PC version so they might be a little different. Probably released a little too late to be an Atari game though. (Microprose's F117A Stealth Fighter...the prequel F-19 Stealth Fighter is good too) I still play it every now and then. One of my favourite games growing up. :D

That's probably it, although my memory is a little fuzzy on the exact details.
