Roo meat?

What are your thoughts? Culinary, cultural, and ethical.

Any good recipes to share?

Personally, I think its great. Good to eat, and I don't have a problem with it.

P.S. Although I won't tell any vegan fanatics not to respond, I'm not interested in a general argument on eating meat, though the views of omnivores are most welcome

P.P.S. Anyone know where to get emu meat in Brisbane, or Logan?

Never had it. Not common in the UK.

I had some from, weirdly, Sainsbury’s a couple of years back.

Nothing to write home about. Give me some venison any day.

Mmm... venison.

Venison steaks, venison burgers, deep-fat fried venison chiblets... No matter how you make it, it's good. Somehow, some people don't like it. I guess it's an "aquired" taste, of sorts.

Moose is equally good, though, as is ostrich, and I like boar meat as well. Bear, on the other hand, is just not good. Then again, most carnivor meat, from what I hear, is not very tasty(Stringy, tough meat, and the diet just doesn't produce decent tasting meat).

Never had roo, but I'd be willing to try it.

It was ok. A bit like venison though.

ETA: Ostrich is quite nice though.

Kangaroo is ok. As is Wild Boar.

Do the people who kill the kangaroos for their meat also use the skins?

Never had it, but I'd be willing to give it a try once. I doubt I'd be able to find it here in the US, though.

I'll just stick with occasionally eating buffalo.

I've heard good things about bear meat, that it has a good flavour. Though I have heard it's a little tough. I'd like to give it a try.

As for kangaroo I've had roo steak once before, it was pretty good. It was most like venison, though I think venison is better. As for the ethics of it, I don't see it as any worse than eating any other meat. And it's not like kangaroos are endangered.

Never tried it, probably never will. As for the ethics I don't care as long as you're not eating human. Kangaroo sounds to exotic for me.

Kangeroo meat is alright, I don't eat a lot of it though.

http://www.dfat.gov.au/facts/kangaroos.htmlThe site says they use the skins, so I would say that eating kangaroo meat is ethical. I don't wanna try it myself, though.
