What's With The Obsession of Making Kids Into Criminals?

But a kid at the nearby university was suspended for five months (This was later removed, when reason kicked in) for wearing a baclava (Loose ski mask, you can definitely recognize the person if you know them, from what I heard.) in class-Which is tacky, but not a crime. Then there was the kid who was expelled for making a video-game map similar to his school, and all sorts of other bullshit.

Why are our educators obsessed with fucking up kid's lives?

How the fuck is thinking a person should not be arrested (he was arrested) and suspended from school for wearing a baclava terrorist-sounding?

"Sir, he's not ceding his point."

"Get him."

Sorry, had to.

Sorry, that WAS sarcasm but then again, it's hard to tell when you're reading text.

Wait...are you implying that complex layers and tones of speech don't translate into text?

Usually a smilie is quite functional in relating whether or not you mean something seriously.

...Dumbass :p

Try next time.

Anyways, as a student, I have some pretty strong feelings about this issue. I once read an article by a man who, when in high school, wrote a story about his teachers dying in interesting ways (like the Biology teacher being found with twigs and leaves in his hair and stuff). His teachers, instead of reporting him and ruining his life, found it very amusing and praised him for his creativity. If someone tried that in this day and age, they'd be locked up for years.

It seems as though society is moving away from personal freedoms and liberties and moving towards secure ignorance.. Sounds like a pretty slippery slope to me.

I wore a black ski mask to school once. Even walked by the school cop. They didn't say anything or even take a second look until I got in line in the cafeteria at which point the vice principal (near the cop) told me to take it off. Hardly a hint of aggressive in his voice, really.

I was surprised.

It's a balaclava. Baclava are apparently tasty desserts. I say apparently because I can't eat them. I can't eat them because they have nuts in them. I'm allergic to nuts :(

It is going considerably overboard, but after VATech, I can understand being a little paranoid. Not approve, just understand.

A group of kids at my high school were recently expelled for attempting to persuade the administrators from punishing a kid who may or may not have started a food fight by refusing to go to class.
One got sent to prison for "blocking fire exits."

And while they're dealing with this one kid nearly gets away with breaking another kid's jaw with brass knuckles.

[teacher impression]

*pulls out a paper with rules and protocol I MUST do no matter how messed up or dumb in order to keep my job*

In case of the emergency when a child wears a ski mask:

STEP 1: Humor and approach like so (card in left pocket)

STEP 2: apprehend, label terrorist, use line 2 on card then hand him over to law enforcement

AHEM! *approaches* *reads card* [monotone voice] Do not be alarmed we want to help you....we aren't going to hurt you put the gun down , wait he doesn't have a gun *school board eyes teacher* ummmm....put down the gun.... *grabs* your a terrorists because erm, the government says so and they threatening to take my job, you have disrupted learning and you are a bad student who wastes tax dallars! *aprehends and hands over*

PWNED!

Here's some:

"vote Democrat"
"bring home the troops"
"make love not war"
"I approve of Nancy Pelosi"
"Clinton was a good President"

As for the thread at hand... parents got up in arms during the 1950's, too... which was one of the many factors behind the social liberalism of the '60s. That gives me hope for the next ten years. :)

Because you're questioning authority.
