Which way is best depends on the average length of messages on the medium in question. If the average length is one paragraph or more like on forums then proper capitalization helps mark names and acronyms, prevent sentances from floating together and prevent "I" from getting lost in the text. But if the average length is one sentance like in chat conversations then there is no need for any of that and reading flows on nicer without any capitalization speed bumps.

"I" as in the word. Example: "After finishing breakfast, I went to my computer to log in to my nation." Altered: "After finishing breakfast i went to my computer to log in to my nation."

Because the letter "i" is in more words than just the word "I".

Well that is rediculous, first letter of a sentence should be a capital.

Nice "questiONG". "I" is supposed to BE capitalised, so why GENERALLY it ISN'T?

Also, why write "dont/doesnt" instead of "don't/doesn't" or "do not/does not"?

I guess that most english-writing people never cared to learn english grammar.
Dishonorable Scum

Capitalizing "I" when referring to oneself is so egocentric. In order to prevent this, it is best to avoid the use of the pronoun "I" altogether. One should always refer to oneself as "one" or "oneself", or else entirely in the third person, in Dishonorable Scum's opinion. :p

I don't understand why people don't use capitals. It's not as if pressing the shift key down takes any particular extra effort.

It's because for every press of the shift key, you burn 3 calories...
REDUCE WEIGHT, USE THE SHIFT!

Three calories, but the average person takes in 200,000 calories or 2,000 Calories every day.

I only started capitalizing again recently. My English teacher hated me and made me feel terrible, he couldn't stand me. So I stopped capitalizing as a form of protest. He didn't get it though, I flunked just English miserably.
