Who is the public blaming for not funding the troops and the veto?

Early polls are in (http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/05/08/schneider.iraq.poll/index.html)

The key word here is that these polls are early. In my opinion these numbers will rise as the discord grows greater. Many people predicted that the people would blame the congress even though it was Bush that vetoed the spending bill and those people, at least at this point, are wrong. Certain of us said people would see through the facade and point the blame at Bush for not approving the legislation. As of right now it looks like we are right. The only thing that makes me happier than being right is... being just. Oh, and EO being wrong in all of his various forms bring wrong. I find it funny how people who get destroyed in debate just change their name and expect us to not figure out they are speaking in the exact same voice of the other troll name. Just because you're a dolt doesn't mean I will follow suit. ;)

Eh?

When asked who is more responsible for U.S. troops not yet receiving additional funds, 44 percent say the Democrats in Congress, while 34 percent say President Bush.

Eh?

so what? That asks who is RESPONSIBLE for it, congress or the president.

It says nothing about whether people AGREE with that or not.

Sure, some might think congress is responsible. Many of them think that's a GOOD thing.

The only truly representive, important question, is whose actions are BETTER.

And more people side with congress.

I'm answering to the OP, not your own idea of what is important

how about you look at the sentenced BEFORE those. Context ftw!

What on earth are you on about?

What on earth are you on about?

that by reading words in context it is obvious the OP was talking about who would be viewed negativly as a result of the veto.

The part of the article you quoted did not speak to that issue. As in, read the sentences that came BEFORE what you quoted.

He meant this.

The public trusts Congress more than President Bush to set policy in Iraq. Congress is thought to be more committed to ending the war. But with trust comes responsibility.

Many people predicted that the people would blame the congress even though it was Bush that vetoed the spending bill and those people, at least at this point, are wrong.

Again...

When asked who is more responsible for U.S. troops not yet receiving additional funds, 44 percent say the Democrats in Congress, while 34 percent say President Bush.

So in fact, those who said that the people would blame Congress are themselves wrong and those who said they would blame Bush are right, in direct contradiction of the OP.

I'm not commenting on the war, simply on the OP

Again, context is everything. Your quote says who they would consider responsible. Not who they would blame.

Blame carries a negative connotation that is not supported.

Ahh, gotcha, the sentence before my quote, not in the OP - apologies to you 2 Arthrais.

Still, I was simply answering the OP, not commenting on anything else

s'ok, I was just saying, that the OP was discussing who would be BLAMED, IE, viewed negatively for it.

Your quote doesn't say who was BLAMED, merely who was thought responsible. Many might think congress was responsible...and think that this is a good thing.

I'd missed this story. It's confirmation of what I suspected would happen.
