So, what have you been doing?

After a burst of inspiration yesterday and another burst today, I've decided to both write a book and also write a web comic.

I probably won't have the willpower to see either of them through to the end, but for now I'm still on an adrenaline rush and I published the first comic today, with plans for the second already finished and ideas still bubbling in my head for ones after that.

Out of interest, anyone else on here write a web comic?

And the main purpose of this thread: have you done anything recently which, like me and my web comic, have made you feel extremely giddy and proud of yourself?

:D

No, no stress, none whatsoever. <.< >.>

Edit: by this I don't mean I'm about to graduate, I mean I either get good grades or my school funding gets pulled.

After a particularly nasty synthesis lab report, we all went down to the bars, and we had many pitchers of beer between us (accounts vary, but supposedly it averages to about a pitcher a person).

Since beer does not sit well with me, i ended up doing 7&7s to calm my stomach.

A few weeks ago when I put together/implemented (at the same time; that's the way I work) the new, wonderfully sounding (though hardly transparent; I love that snappy pumping and soft saturation) algorithm for my "look-ahead"-free brickwall limiter DSP plugin.

The more recent progress on the native (as opposed to the inbuilt ports) API of my plugin set and the work-in-progress host for it is also quite nice, though the real breakthroughs are yet to come.

I got straight A's last semester, which was when I started college. I thought it was pretty cool, since I haven't gotten straight A's since 7th grade, but the novelty of it wore off after a few days.

Recently, I think I did well on a Physics test that I barely studied for. Also, I have gotten into only one car accident since I started driving in the summer and that one wasn't even my fault. The person rear ended me.

Working, dear god finally, working...on a semi regular, actually lucrative basis.

Albeit on commercials, which aren't the height of creative output, but fuck it, I'm a PA, the lowest dude on the totem pole. I'm literally hired from people who have nothing more than my name and my phone number. And normally I work on reality shows, so it's a lateral move. (I get to do documentaries too, but they pay practically nothing, just chunks of my soul back). And commercials pay twice as much.

If this streak continues (and it likely won't) I might actually have enough money to do my own small documentary. Maybe.

Yes, that makes me really proud.

Currently working on a column that will be read, (or at least seen) by more or less 850 thousand people, that also makes me proud, of course.

I'm proud of my daily job.

I can't do math at a 5th grade (10 year old) level, let alone college level.

*is glad that you told me what 'fifth grade' meant*
What? I'm British. We label them as 'years'.

Although I vaguely agree with you when it comes to trigonometry.
And general geometry.

It doesn't confuse me if someone's bad at maths. Only if they dislike it. :D
Equations are so beautiful.
And how could anyone dislike a Mandelbrot set, which was generated by mathematics?

I failed two exams in geometry back in high school and was on the verge of academic probation because of it. Ironically, I got the highest possible grade in calculus in college. (That's because the calculus was 'dumbed-down' calculus! :) ) And also, I hate statistics. I'd curl up and die if statistics goes within a meter of me.

And you can dislike the Mandelbrot Set (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandelbrot_set) by being me. It looks to me like lots of sperms trying to fertilize a mutated egg cell. Perhaps I hate math because I suck at it; and I suck at math because I dislike it.

The only way I can like numbers is if they are positive, infinitesimally large, and has a $ sign before it. And if it is all for me.

Sigh... I can see it now... I will get everything out of the way except for math and it'll be that one class holding me back from my degree. :( :( :( The one class that no matter how many times I try, no matter how much tutoring I recieve... I will never pass it.

Infinitesimally large is a contradiction in terms.
Infinitely large would be OK.
Infinitesimal approaches 0. It's an infinitely small number.
Also, a £ sign would be better.
Well, not really, as twice infinity is infinity, but still
:D

I detest statistics; it is not worthy of being categorised as mathematics...

Also: die, person who dislikes the Mandelbrot set. :)

Okay. Make it infinitely large... and in Kuwaiti dinars, please.

Only triple, actually - P&R is one major here. Five years altogether.

Bah! Theology and Philosophy, perhaps. Theology's the philosophy of religion.

It's a small department. Basically, I studied philosophy, and took 2 extra religion classes on what would have amounted to a philosophy major.

Of course, next year they start offering a separate major.

Also, is there actually an ignore function? So that we really can completely ignore a particular poster? I've certainly never seen one.

Yes, there is...

Go to User CP (on your top left side)

Under Control Panel, find Miscellaneous, and edit your Buddy / Ignore Lists.

:D

If you need the willpower to finish it, just take some Red-Bull and Crack....

well recently i've restructured some of our websites and seen hits from google rise by 36,000 percent. they look better too and fix all the old browser incompatibilities that used to piss me off.

i also had a great business idea we're hopefully going to expand on.

plus i installed debian linux on my xbox for kicks

lastly, its not an achievement so much.... just something that made me feel giddy like a schoolgirl; i took a look at the car i really want in the showroom and have (almost) figured out the finances to get it :) yay!
