You're depressed. If by some odd chance my internet psychology didn't work from your two sentences of description, try playing this: http://ec2-1.playr.co.uk/onslaught/index.php

You could play an Angband-variant, those are always good for a half hour or so.
I recommend Steamband, as it is the only game I know of where a ninja can use Cthulian sorcery to fight his way past a legion of Tyrannosaurs and SS Storm troopers in order to face their dark commander, Count Dracula.

God, that can get addicting. I've been KoL-free for a few months.
I would suggest Europa Universalis III, ArmA: Armed Assault, and Test Drive Unlimited. Whatever you like -- strategy, FPS, driving, in that order.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyll. Wonderful game...simply wonderful, and with a lovely book and movie background, too.
F.E.A.R. Combat: Basically the multiplayer aspect. The singleplayer is worthless, but multiplayer is fun.
Chrono Trigger: Even if you've played before, it's always worth another play.
Chrono Cross: Same as Trigger.
Pokemon...any GBA game: These are fun stuff.
Metal Gear Solid, II, and III: All great games.

Pardus (http://www.pardus.at/) - I just got into it, it looks promising if you enjoy RP, capitalism, sci fi.
Battlemaster (http://www.battlemaster.org) - Been playing this RPG for over a year. Great game, lots of fun if you like RP, medieval war, and/or politics.
Nexus War (http://www.nexuswar.com) - like Urban Dead, but much better. My favorite thing to do now is wander into a hospital and slaughter all the mortals there.

Both are great. The Onin No Ran mod for the second one is particularly fun. Nothing like slicing up peasants in fuedal Japan to brighten up your day.
If you want a more mainstream approach, Supreme Commander is good.
In MMO's, try 9Dragons by Acclaim. Its got decent graphics, good gameplay and its free.
Evil Genius is a good game to, definitly up the average NS Generalites alley, considering the whole "Be an insane 1960's James Bond style villian and take over the world" aspect.

Well, whenever I want to check out a game, I turn to Gamespot. Their reviews are often clouded by bias and generally poor review writing, but they're better than everyone else I've seen and you can pick out a lot of useful information from those reviews.
