Dobbs hitched; World rejoices.

For those of you not in the know, I've just returned from the honeymoon capital of the world with a ring on my finger, a song in my heart, and a deep hole in my pocket. Yep, I'm married.

The service was nice - the view breathtaking - and the Ghanian Minister came with the complete matrimonial package. The bride was beautiful in her salwar kameez, I was rakish in my pinstriped black suit and satin hanky, which was used to soak up all the tears of joy I shed during the ceremony.

Afterwards, we retired to the Table Rock restaurant for an afternoon meal and cake - followed by a limousine tour of the area. Friends and family all had a wonderful time, including one or two who'd managed to be there in spite of living on the other side of the continent.

So if you're ever finding yourself falling in love online and later, while getting hitched, discover your fiance is a fellow NSer don't panic - it won't turn out to be me, as I'm already well-spoken for.

And assuming this thread doesn't get locked as spam, I'll post wedding photos here when they become available.

Are you saying you met your woman online?

And that wedding sounds like a level of hippishness that rivals my friends hippy wedding where we went down to a river I think to thank it...it was hard to follow...

Anyway, congrats.

Well, congratulations and best wishes to you both.

Me and my gal was supposed to get married in december, but then the stick turned blue and we had to postprone the wedding because we're having a baby in december instead. Not a bad tradeoff :D

Are you saying you met your woman online?

Nah, she was the sister of a roommate of mine from my communal-apartment-urban-hippie days.

So, any little Dobbs coming along any time soon?

Ack! No - I can safely say through long past knowledge that Missus Dobbs and I share a vision - a vision of life without children. It's a quiet future, and one that I wholeheartedly endorse.

Funny thing is, of the thirteen employees in my production department, at least half a dozen are now engaged. I'm just the first penguin to be pushed off the ice floe!

Don't you think you might be overreacting a little there? They're just married people, not zombies. You don't have to worry about being bitten or scratched and becoming one of them!

Well, there were a number of cameras trained on us that day, but I've yet to hear from their respective owners. The official wedding snaps won't be ready for another few days at least - but believe me, I'm planning to share the joy as soon as it can be managed.

We just got through unpacking and cleaning up the clutter left in the aftermath. This weekend we'll be tearing the living room apart, shifting all the furniture around, then going shopping (well, maybe the weekend after that going shopping) for furniture and blinds and stuff. Our goal is to get the tidy yet looming piles of... mostly junk and old papers off of the floors, put in a china cabinet, and turn the former dining area into a reading nook and a less-drafty spot in our home for our lovebirds.

Then of course there's the gardening, which we've missed out on so far due to all this wedding stuff... rhubarb is doing great this year, though...
