This is absolutely disgusting. Kicking someone off a flight is one thing, if passengers are genuinely uncomfortable, although going a little far IMO.

But to file federal, life-ruining felony charges, and actually convict someone for 20 years in prison, where he would be exposed to violent criminals, is beyond obscene. Even in God-damned Saudi Arabia, he'd have gotten off with a flogging.

Oh, we've already put those people in front of the firing squad. We're showing it on national television. Sex is evil but we love a good firing squad shooting a mass of people.

Here's the problem:
Prosecutors said Persing twice threatened a flight attendant who told the couple to stop and refused to serve them alcohol.

That's a huge no-no. Whether the flight attendants were in the right or wrong in asking the couple to stop making out is an issue to sue the airlines over once you're on the ground. Threats on an airplane are bad juju. *nod*

But isn't withholding alcohol, worse juju?

It was more than just making out. Anyone who threatens a flight attendent these days is an idiot. Not to mention that it's common sense that you shouldn't get too carried away in public.

Depends. How would you like being on a plane where someone is stinking drunk and making a nuisense of himself (assuming you're sober)?

Charges against Sewell, [the girlfriend] who was accused of assisting Persing, were dropped this week.
Well, that's certainly a new word for it.

In seriousness, the fact that the girlfriend isn't being charged for anything would imply that the guy isn't being charged for being overly affectionate in public, but for making a beligerent ass out of himself when the attendent told him to knock it off.

I'd assume that I didn't have enough to drink, yet.

There should be separate flights that make it mandatory that everyone is drunk. Would solve any issues of belligerence.

That's right... since the flight crew are responsible for all passenger safety.

Persing and his girlfriend were seen "embracing, kissing and acting in a manner that made other passengers uncomfortable" during the flight, according to a criminal complaint. Prosecutors said Persing twice threatened a flight attendant who told the couple to stop and refused to serve them alcohol.so the charge has nothing to do with the make out session but HIS behavior towards the flight crew.

after all... Charges for Sewell were dropped.

And would replace those issues with a new set of issues involving several dozen fiery crashes a day.
