The real question is "which Steve McQueen movie is the most badass?"

That is a good question...My choice wouldn't be the popular one due to personal biases...(Le Mans...does the movie have a plot? Who knows...)

Eh.. any discussion about Braveheart ends with a bunch of English appearing out of nowhere to harp on the inaccuracies and denounce Mel Gibson for his pattern of portraying them as barbaric. Cool movie, though. :p

Haven't seen most of these. I'll add a few to the list:

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. This one had a major chase/fight scene on motorcycles - using SWORDS. You don't get more badass than that.

Lord of the Rings: No explanation needed.

+points for Boondock Saints, just a great movie.

For some reason, "Equilibrium" isn't even on the list...

Probably because it is one of the worst movies ever made, and about as "badass" as a pink Barbie toy convertible.

On that list, pulp fiction hands down.

As for 300? Watching a video game being played where a bunch of homo-porn man-meats kill goons in masks and fight a 8-ft tall trannie who sounds like darth vader is not my idea of "badass."

In as much as every movie must be one of the 'worst movies', I guess.

I really hoped you were not serious, but then...

On that list, pulp fiction hands down.

Since you picked that (hell, it's not even the best Tarantino movie... maybe not even top three) over "V for Vendetta" and "Boondock Saints", I guess I'm just going to have to reconcile myself to not having the same 'appreciation' for films you might have.

I don't see what's so often hated about "Equilibrium". As far as I can tell, it's biggest sin is coming out in the shadow of the Matrix films, whilst being made on a budget that wouldn't quite have made the famous 'motorbike chase scene' in that series.

Equilibrium is not only a deeply unintelligent movie, but it is poorly made, wasting whatever resources were dumped into it.

Pulp fiction is a movie with real staying power, that has affected the popular culture, and has extraordinary dialogue and characters.

V for Vendetta and boondock saints are novelty movies, each one has its own shtick, neither are truly serious or artistic films. More people may get shot in those movies, and they aren't bad movies, but they aren't great films either, and aren't the work of a genius like Tarantino.

You see... that movie is badass because the Ass Kickery starts from scene one.... and does not end... until the credits begin to role... thats why it is badass.

[/pedant]

"ASDA is Wal-Mart's largest overseas subsidiary, accounting for almost half of the company's international sales. As of January 2006, there were 21 ASDA/Wal-Mart Supercentres, 243 ASDA superstores, 37 ASDA supermarkets (including town centres), five ASDA Living stores, 10 George clothing stores and 24 depots (distribution centres). ASDA has 150,000 employees, who it refers to as "colleagues" (90,000 part-time, 60,000 full-time). The company is also engaged in property development through its subsidiary company, Gazeley Properties Limited."

V for Vendetta????? Honestly now, while it was a good movie, it is no where near the badassocity (yes, I made that up) to be on the list with these other movies. First off they turn the badass psycho anarchist V into this chivalrous swachbuckler, and then they get etremely heavy handed with their "political message." they essentially turned what was a thought provoking commentary on Thatcherite England into this pussed-up "Its set in England, but we're talking about Bush, but we're not really talking about Bush cause its in England, but its really about Bush, cause we don't like Bush." JUST COME OUT AND SAY IT. We get you don't like his policies and his agnda and thats fine, but just come out and say it. V for Vendetta is not nearly as intelligent or revolutionary as the wachowski Brothers think it is.

Ranting aside, I voted for 300

And where, pray tell me, is Braveheart?

Yeah-Thats at the top of "badass". And while we're at it, "The Patriot" was up there too.

"The Good,The Bad and the Ugly" comes to mind. As well as the other man with no name series. And "The Outlaw Josie Wales".

Sort of like lots of video games... I expect different and better from movies.

Yeah but unlike video games I didn't have to waste any effort in playing it, making it to a lasy American like myself very happy about the fact that I could use 2 hands to eat my popcorn instead of having someone else do it (because you know, I'm so lasy that I have to have a minion feed me my popcorn while I use both hands to play a video game).

I liked it, they made no pretense about it being about anything other than fighting, fucking, fighting, and killing lots and lots of shit, unlike most other movies about the same thing. Have you ever read the graphic novel the movie was based off of? Its about fighting, fucking, fighting, and kiling lots of shit.

The real point I'm trying to make is nobody cares about why you don't like something, they probably in all honesty don't care that you don't like it.
