Bush is not afraid to fight. Bush liberated Iraq from an oppressive despot who did very nasty tortures such as the casket prison. Other that the war which I 100% support even though I wish it cost less and that we were also fighting Iran and Syria and N. Korea, Bush is a horrible president. Oh and he also lowered taxes woohoo!

Yeah, because no democratic president ever engaged in any military action, right?

Saddam was the best thing to ever happen to the Iraqi people. He maintained order and most Iraqi's lives were better under him. He had to use torture and violence to maintain order. If I'm not mistaken you advocated killing ten Iraqis for every person who dies in a suicide bombing, so if you're going to be honest you need to admit that Saddam's way isn't so different from your own.

He cut taxes while increasing spending and throwing us into deep debt. His economic policies have also led to very slow increases in real wages if not an actual drop in real wages. Woohoo indeed.

OK, he eliminated the marriage penalty.

and on that note, I must also point out that during Bush's Presidency my annual wages has increased 25% which is far more than I can say about my wages during Clinton's. Of course, I also was in college during most of Clinton's Presidency, and was usually earning minimum wage, but why should I count that?

And I forgot to add that I lost 10 grand in investments in October 2000, thanks to Gore and his insistance on dragging the election out as long as possible.

Honestly, come the end of Clinton's term our economy is on its way into a recession, and Bush managed to pull us out of it early with his retroactive tax cuts.

Then 9/11 happened and he became what we have today. Damn terrorists.

First of all, the guy I was responding to decided to post a thread a week or two ago stating that the best way to control the situation in Iraq was to kill ten sunnis for every shi'ite killed by sunni insurgents and vice versa. He advocated the use of murder to keep the population in line. That's what Saddam did too. I was using his own argument against him.

Second, yeah, Saddam was a brutal killer. Still the current slow motion civil war is on track to kill more Iraqis than Saddam did. Under Saddam you didn't see the doctors, professors and lawyers of Iraqi society fleeing the country as fast as possible to avoid the kidnappings and killings. That is going on now and will have serious long term effects on Iraq. Under Saddam there was steady electricity. Not now. Life was better for the average Iraqi under Saddam than it is now.
