Three little Birds...

German Nightmare

Okay, it was only one little bird, to be honest - but this Sunday morning started very early with a pleasant surprise...

On the night SA -> SU I pretty much zoned out around 03:00 and since it still had 27°C inside my appartement and only 21°C outside I figured I'd just let the balcony door open.

And then on Sunday morning at 07:12 I woke up because someone had touched my hip. I was sleeping on my right side and somebody tapped me on my left side...

Blue tits! Not, not this kind... (oYo)

But Blue Tits!!! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Tit)

One of the little fellows had payed me a visit, and when I looked up to see what was going and I realized it was a bird in my room the guy took off, flew about 2m (6ft) and joined his friend on the balcony.

And then they "chatted" and sang and it was the most amazing start of the day in a long time!

Anyway, when have you been touched by nature most recently?

Anybody who gets woken up on a Saturday morning with a hangover by birds scraping around on my dormer roof wouldn't like them so much...

Woah! That's not so nice.

I woke up very startled but thought it really great. Besides, a tit doesn't weigh that much. ;)

I was attacked by a goose yesterday. I was in the park feeding the ducks (and geese), and one of the geese decided to climb out of the water and half run, half fly at me to get the bread, which I hurriedly tore up and chucked in the water, away from the goose. Bloody goose should learn some manners.

i get dive-bombed by sea gulls every time i walk along a particular lane near my flat. i think they dislike my hair colour because they never attack anyone else and they don't notice me if i have a hat or a hood on.

apart from that, i once woke up to see two mice having a scrap in the middle of a barn loft floor (yes i was sleeping in a barn). they were really funny. i watched them for a good five minutes before i had to scratch my nose and they got scared and ran off. nobody would believe be afterwards either.

yesterday the sky was extremely beautifull. dard blue, a nice contrast with the orange/yellow streetlights, especially when they both reflected on water.

in my old apartment, I fell asleep on my living room floor and awoke with "the Landlord" (it's the name of the cat who claimed our building as his territory. he makes unit inspections and collects 'rent' from all of us.) sitting on my stomach with a "what the hell are you doing on the floor" look.

Uh, on holiday I found a goldfish that used to kiss my finger if I put my hand in the water. And today, come to think of it, I managed to rescue a worm from a certain roasting on the middle of my road.

That's about as close as it gets...

One mean mother goose I take it?

Over here, we don't have that many wild geese. Either ducks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mallard), coots (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurasian_Coot) or swans (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swan).

Run if they ever come after you and your bread - they can break your arm with their wings...

To apply another Billy Madison quote (I love that movie, rented it again yesterday...): "Stop looking at me, swan!"
That depends, us must have the wrong tits. :D
I don't discriminate. ;) A tit is a tit is a tit.

The latter would imply that it is indeed your hair color. What is it?!?

Yay! That's what I'm talking about. On Friday I saw a mouse (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Vole) while taking a walk. I heard a noise, stopped, and there it was. I saw it enter its hole under a tree. Really nice!

It really was cute!

My balcony and the little pleasure it gives me has kept me alive for a long time. ;)
May you should develop a http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y223/GermanNightmare/biggreenthumb.gif yourself, PM?

While you might envy my balcony, I envy those with a little garden. I wish I had a little spot to plant more flowers and grow some veggies. I'd love that.

(Yes, I know I sound like I also want the wife, the house, and the white fence. So what? I do.:D:p)

hmmmm a wildlife story...

when i first moved into this house it was late fall and all the leaves had fallen off the trees. the neighbors cattle would get through the fence at night and keep me awake with the noise of cows rustling through the leaves.

now thats a sound you dont hear every day.

i get deer in the yard now and then. and wild turkeys. and skunks. and desert tortoises. but not all at once.

sometimes the drive into town is a kind of reverse frogger game where i have to dodge suicidal rabbits, roadrunners and quail.

Ich möchte gerne wissen
ob sich die Fische küssen?
Über Wasser tun sie's nicht
und unter Wasser sieht man's nicht!

Haha, that's what comes to my mind when hearing about kissing fish.

Anyway, that saying is usually applied when somebody starts with the first sentence and then ponders too long on his question...

(I'd like to know...
whether fish kiss
Above the surface they don't
and one can't see it under water.)

As for the worm. "Close as it gets"?

1) You saw the worm. Not everyone does.
2) You saw its needs. Not everyone does.
3) You acted upon its needs. Not everyone does.

In my book, if you treat every other living creature alike, you're a good person. ;)

What I really like are the bats that make their nightly hunting runs down the "alley" behind the appartement building.
I can even hear their screams at night when there's no traffic. Great!

I used to play Frogger on a C64 and the game was stored on a tape. How the times have changed!!!

I was here with a group of my class mates. The little cottage in the lower right corner was a sauna. When evening had fallen we got into it, had some vodka and just shot the breeze. Then we ran naked from the sauna and jumped into the 5-10 degree lake and swam for a bit. The sky was starry, and it was all very awesome. :)

Yeah, cat's do that, don't they? Calling it "the Landlord" is excellent!!!he was.

When I went to inspect the apartment to rent it, he met me at the car, then led me up the stairs to the floor (3rd) and to the open apartment, then politely waited outside while I looked the place over (Occasionally peeking in as if to see if everything is ok) then when I was done, he walked be back to my car and saw me off.

Later, as I was feeding him, other tenants made it known that he was collecting such 'rent' from everyone. and some supected that he had other apartments on the block that he also "looks after" :)

Our cat jumps on us and licks our faces to let us know it's time to feed her. She also jumps onto me in the night and purrs on me as loud as possible. Not to wake me up, as far as I can tell, just to be with me. But it wakes me up all the same.

Anyway, I think the last time I was touched by nature persay, was when I had to remove a tick from my shoulder.

As much as it pains me to claim it, Scandinavia beyond the fjords can be quite nice as well... and I hadn't been in a sauna in ages. I was a bit nervous, what with the nakedness, but it all came back to me soon enough.
