No. You will instead go and watch "Cabaret" and then agree with me. Then I will deem you cultured.

It's a toss between Hair or Jesus Christ Superstar. (Odd choice for a Buddhist perhapse, but there you have it.)

Cabaret and Anything Goes are two of my favorites.

South Park: Bigger Longer and Uncut deserves an honorable mention, too. Heh. Oh, as does the original Wicker Man.

Hmmmm... of musicals that I've seen (which aren't many), I'd say Phantom of the Opera or South Pacific. Though JCSS is good too.

Oh, as does the original Wicker Man.

The one with Christopher Lee in it?

There were a couple of musical numbers in it as I recall, does that qualify it to be a musical?

I dont think so, but I also really, really hate most musicals, so maybe my opinion is jaded...

Im going with "Cannibal : The Musical".

Agreed with the honorable mentions. It really is a travesty the way they butchered The Wicker Man in the remake.

My favorite musical is Fiddler on the Roof. It's hilarious, and music is fun.

After that I guess Sweeney Todd and Jesus Christ: Superstar

Hair. I saw it in San Francisco at the Geary Theater in 1969. A few years later, I saw the pathetic movie they made of it. On stage, it was magical.

Sweeney Todd pretty much has to win that prize, although most of Sondheim's shows (Into the Woods in particular) would be close runners-up. Les Miserables, Man of La Mancha, Little Shop of Horrors, Chicago, Evita, Fiddler, Candide, and a dozen or so others that I'm too sleepy to think of offhand would probably also be among my personal runners-up.

Sound of Music. Julie Andrews had the lovelist voice. I do so love mocking Rolf as well.

Miss Saigon was brilliant as well. I loved the Commisar. And The Engineer is funny as hell.

Hmm...does Gilbert and Sullivan's The Gondoliers count? It's more of an operetta.

Either way, I starred in a school production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat , so it's become a personal favourite of mine. As much as I don't like religion, it's a damn good musical.

Cats, too. ALW fan, as you can tell.

Phantom of the Opera is a fantastic musical, but...not entirely to my tastes, methinks.

People actually like The Music Man? Ugh. I was in the pit for that once... let me tell you, I got really freaking sick of Seventy-Six Trombones. It's used everywhere. Sure, the overture and closing are supposed to contain bits of all the songs, but the overture had that damn song five different times, in five different keys. And keys in musical are already horrible, because people don't sing in B flat, heh. Still, it was used as incidental music all throughout. I had nightmares about fucking trombones after that.

Horrible, horrible experience, and a pretty crappy play in the first place. Anything Goes! was fun. The Music Man was a chore.
