This is the greatest parody thread/misleading title since the infamous 'Do you beleive in Cod' thread.

Well somebody had to make a thread for left handed people after the 'A question for the lefties' thread.

1) What is it like being a left handed person?
Well it's annoying how almost every time I'm taking notes, or writing something, people shout "OMG! You're a leftie?! Weird!"
2) How many in your family group are left handed?
My brother is the only other person.
3) Are you, or do you know of anyone who is ambidextrous?

I know atleast one person like such.

1) What is it like being a left handed person?
A blend of sheer awesomeness and total frustration. Imagine if you will that everything you have to do is done upside down or backwards. You are also aware of the small ways that the right handed world needs accomidating when the left handers don't need such hand holding.

Consider the knife. The serates are on one side to counter a right handed persons twist as they cut so that the cut is even. This means that in the left persons hand the twist is assisted by the twist making the cut, if we're not careful, a wedge. Obviously, a right handed person lacks the ability to compensate and as such needs the handicap, while the left handed person is more adaptable and doesn't need such a crutch.

2) How many in your family group are left handed?
Three out of four.

3) Are you, or do you know of anyone who is ambidextrous?
I've known some people who claim to be, but in fact are right handed people who wish they where as cool as lefties, or lefties who have bought into the attempt to shame our existence by giving us substandard tools like the blunt scissors in grade school.

1) What is it like being a left handed person?

Fun! I use the mouse with my right hand, so I can take notes and use the computer at the same time.

Also: anytime I can't use something, my excuse is, "this was obviously made for right handed people".
e.g. trying to pour from a jug and spilling
"Not my fault. This is a right handed jug."

2) How many in your family group are left handed?

Just me.

3) Are you, or do you know of anyone who is ambidextrous?

No. But my dad is like, neitherdextrous, if that counts.

I forgot to answer my own questions!

1) What is it like being a left handed person?

Not left handed, though it would be interesting to see the dark side of the penpersonship world. Also being forced to use the uni chairs at the end of each row.

2) How many in your family group are left handed?

Sister and father are left handed

3) Are you, or do you know of anyone who is ambidextrous?

Unfortunately not, though my father can write fairly legibly with his right hand.

Well, thats bad but at least you don't have to select the last one, that could mean that you lost both of your hands.

1) What is it like being a left handed person?

Sometimes fun, occasionally annoying, mostly not an issue. Some things just have to be put up with (left handed guitars, for example, are a lot more expensive :/ ) but in most cases it's fairly easy to adapt, and train my right hand if using the left isn't possible.

2) How many in your family group are left handed?

None I can think of. :)

3) Are you, or do you know of anyone who is ambidextrous?

Not sure if I know anyone... and not naturally, but as I said, I can train my right hand.

1) Lovely. I love being left-handed.

2) My dad is, though he was forced to use his right hand to write.

3) I'm ambidextrous depending on the task and language written.

1) What is it like being a left handed person?

It's fine. The only inconvenience is that I can't use erasable pens because the ink always smears as I move my hand across the page.

2) How many in your family group are left handed?

I believe that my mother is left handed, as am I.

3) Are you, or do you know of anyone who is ambidextrous?

No.

To start, I'm naturally ambidexterous, but due to several injuries to my right arm over the years I operate as a lefty.

1) What is it like being a left handed person?

Fine, generally. It only really affects me in martial arts and finding a seat where I won't elbow someone at dinner.

2) How many in your family group are left handed?

None in my immediate family, two in my extended family.

3) Are you, or do you know of anyone who is ambidextrous?

Yup.

finding a seat where I won't elbow someone at dinner

i always confuse people when we go out to eat by not just sitting down in the order we get to the table at. they can't tell if i'm being polite, or being an ass, or just trying to sit next to somebody in particular.

That used to be an issue for me. But now I just mention that I'm left-handed right away and ask for a lefty seat. It tends to take the social confusion out of the situation.

1. No big deal being a lefty. You make adjustments for things like pens getting ink all over your hand as you write, having to open jar lids in the wrong direction, the gear shift of the car being harder to manipulate because it is on your offhand side, having to purchase a special glove to play baseball, the number pad on a keyboard being on the wrong side and a million other things that no one really thnks about. But short people have to adjust to sinks that are too high, and tall people have to struggle with getting things out of cabinets that are too low and recessed, so everyone makes adjustments.

2. I have only one cousin that I know of who is also a lefty. My right handed father occasionally jokes that I am wrong handed.

3. I know a couple of people who say they are ambidextrous, but it seems to be only for certain tasks. One friend can write with either hand, but does everything else left handed. Another bats lefty, golfs righty and so on.

Well, I can usually navigate with the keyboard. Plus my laptop has a touchpad so I can move the cursor with my left if I need to.

1) What is it like being a left handed person?

Ups and downs, scissors/pens/etc are trouble, but I have the gear stick next to my good hand (being a UKite) and have a natural advantage in sports like tennis/badminton etc (which would be better if I wasn't really crap at them).

2) How many in your family group are left handed?

My father was naturally left handed but his parents forced him to become right handed.

3) Are you, or do you know of anyone who is ambidextrous?

I do a few things with my right hand (mouse etc) but I'm not ambidextrous, don't know anyone who is either.

I'm left-handed in some areas, not in others. For example, I prefer my left hand for writing and most other single-handed activities, but I'm right handed in cutlery layout and batting. I don't go in for all that backwards clock business, my handwriting isn't terrible and I've yet to encounter a right-handed bias that's seriously affected me. Take the scissors as an example - yes, there are left-handed scissors, I've owned the same pair for 17 years. However, if you just adjust the direction of force applied by your fingers and thumb ever so slightly, the scissors cut better. From my own sad and lonely experimenting, I reckon it's because right-handed people force the blades closer together as their hand twists slightly, whereas lefties hands obviously twist slightly in the reverse motion and thus the blades are forced apart. By pulling your thumb inwards to your palm slightly as you cut, the crappy chewing action is removed.

I'm the only one in my entire family who is left-handed, that being 25 blood relatives I can think of. My dad jokingly claims it was my mum's fault, saying she forced me to be left-handed because of the supposed association with intelligence (her being involved with educational psychology).

I've only ever known one person who claimed to be ambidextrous and I think they were lying.

You should have lived here. Gear stick on the left side. Not too much of a problem due to the amount of automatics around now.

Me mam and my brother are lefties.

I'm somewhat ambidextrous. My right-handed writed is actually more legible than my left, but it's slow and looks like a child's.
