How Much Do I Rule?

This much-
Just updated my OS to Tiger (on Mac), but since there was (apparently) a problem with my hard drive I had to do an erase and reinstall. I thought I had backed up my system, but since I'm a computard, all I did was save my files, not my programs-so, bye bye Office, Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, whatever my else my brain is protecting me from.
Hello test of convictions to not use pirated software...(and I don't have the DVD/CDs of those programs or the reg info because, well...isn't it obvious by now? When it comes to computers, not the swiftest. I just want them to do things, I don't want to spend time doing things to them.)
So, I rule. Do you rule, too? Tell us tales of your similar conquests so that I might feel better in company. I'm not asking for advice because it seems clear any attempt on my part will just make it worse. Just looking for tales of the stupid...
I did a system restore to get rid of a virus once, one that wasn't even that bad. I lost like 20 gigs of music.
Omg, I hope I don't make a mistake like that. I generally leave major computer things like that to somebody who knows what they're doing. Given my (un)successes with cooking, I don't even want to know what I'd do to my computer if I tried to mess with it too much.

That's what I'm experiencing right now, like "Really, you wanted to try Second Life and Skype or watch Apple Trailers that bad that you lost all your programs, huh? Well, I hope they're worth not being able to do editing or design projects anymore or do any writing...jackass..."

My old Mac died after using it for a month (I had recently moved and hadn't hooked it up for a while). It had a couple hundred songs on it's iTunes, as well as a good amount of irreplaceable files. The hard drive was wierd, so we couldn't take it out and put it in another Mac. We ended up getting our current computer, an iMac, but still...it stings to lose all that stuff.

i wrecked my old laptop a couple of weeks ago. managed to save the harddisc but it turns out i can't transfer any of the programs to my new laptop without them leaving behind vital wotsits. a friendly NSer (i forget who now sorry, was it pantless?) informed me of Open Office which is just like microsoft only free. so now i can at least open all my essays and such. still can't use any other programmes though and naturally i have no discs and whatever...
you're not alone :)

Having other people do it was why I switched to a Mac. Every time a computer person did something to my PC I'd find out that half the damn thing was now unusable or otherwise fucked up. Up until now, the Mac hasn't had that problem. Now, it's just like old times...sigh...

Open Office! You might have saved me a bit of hassle, at least I can get some writing done...(since you can't remember who helped you, you get the credit...)

Mmmm, I got mine because I was trying to acquire a program that would change the formats of the music I had. Which I then lost.
Can you say irony?

Set it on fire and take a picture of yourself sitting next to the burnt out shell?

Apparently total disaster was narrowly averted.

Iron monger? Erningy? Irofscioplasty? Gerfloogles?
No, apparently I can't. Too bad, because it sounds like such a fun word too.

Uh, one time I had to reformat because I thought I had an uber-virus. Turned out one of my RAM sticks was fucked up. Had to reinstall everything again for nothing. Didn't lose anything important, though. Thank God for cheap CD-Rs.
