Does anyone care about the Iraqis?

It seems whenever I hear the issue of the Iraq war being discussed its always about whats best for America and its troops and all their troops that been killed. About how they are all "brave heros" and so on. And maybe thats only fair considering they have spent a lot of money and energy in the war. But does anyone care about an outcome thats best for the Iraqis or about the Iraqis that have been killed. Why aren't they considered brave heros for living their lives in the face of violence and death? Does America simply not care about brown people or something? poll coming

Look, if we stay, we end up killing some Iraqis.

If we leave, a lot of Iraqis will set about killing each other.

One might argue that more Iraqis will die right after we leave.

But, Democrats say we should leave, and right now, and fuck the Iraqis who are left - they aren't able to vote for Democrats, so they might as well be dead.

Republicans (some) say we should stay, maybe forever, and fuck the Iraqis who fight us - they aren't able to vote for Republicans, so they might as well be dead.

Even though this is the Onion, it is actually a fair assessment of the entire Middle East.

It seems to me that because the pro-war people doesn't, the anti-war crowd didn't bother focusing on that when trying to convert them to their side.

That said, it's not as easy to be as sympathetic now that the Iraqis are killing each other, rather than getting killed by the Americans.

I care, but the amount that I care is, as with LG, starting to fall. See also the whole Israel/Palestine thing.

I'm just basically bored of it.

Doubtless people alive in the time of Vietnam had the same thing.

"Oh look our B-52s have carpet-bombed another VC / NVA base and killed a whole bunch of people... I really care..." *swaps channel*

Honestly, no.

I wish them no ill will, but their lives mean comparatively little to me. At this point they're statistics.

Why would they? Iraqis arn't Americans and thus are worthless pawns in the game of American politics. Hell, they arn't even pawns, they are the board.

I care more about them than I care about american soldiers.

But I dont care much about both either. Both are just fucked up because of Bush nonetheless.
