Today the 44th Australian Labor Party National Conference begins, I guess for NSG americans it could be compared to a democrat/republican convention, except it doesn't choose a nominee. It is basically used to debate policies that Labor will take to the election this year, important issues include the possible overturning of Labor's long standing policy of not exporting uranium reserves. I personally would like to see a return to the enduring socialist ideals of great labor politicians like Curtin and Chiffley.

Well, first of all they're gonna have to work out their IR policy. That "one stop shop" idea sounds pretty stupid to me, especially considering that it may actually be unconstitutional. And if it turns out to be, then Rudd won't have done himself a favour at all.

Well personally I don't anything was wrong with the original IR Commission, the only problem with it lately is that it became muted by Howard's laws, and his other bodies. It's wage fixing and tribunal powers were excellent.
