In honor of the recent release of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl in the US, I'm starting this thread. So tell us what your favorite Pokemon is and what Pokemon you would be if you got turned into one like in that Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game with the rescue teams and such (except your options include all Pokemon).:D

My favorite, and the one I would want to be, would be Gardevoir.

Haven't played Pokemon for about six years, I have no idea what all these pokemon in the new games are. My favourite was always the purple ghost one with little horns and the grin. The one I'm most like? Magikarp. :p

Yeah. They were extremely popular when I was in third grade (maybe 8 or 9 years old). There still probably pretty popular, but not so much with my age group anymore.

I think they're fun. If you have a DS, it would probably be worth buying the game and trying it. The game cost about $30 here.

Get some friends and trade for 'em.

The circles in which I move are not heavy with potential Pokemon players, usually. Much less hardcore players who are likely to have all the older games for me to trade older pokemon from. :(

I can't figure out how to get a wireless connection to it. I have to go to school now, but can you explain it so I can figure it out when I get home?

The only side game I played was Stadium, with a friend who had an N64 at that time. I had the original Red and Blue games, and the Yellow special edition thing they did... I don't have any of them now, since I moved to the US.

Yep. As long as you have a wireless router or Nintendo's proprietary wireless USB adapter. The online in Pokemon is pretty basic, even for a Nintendo game. You can't battle or trade with someone unless you both enter each others 12 digit codes (like in all the online game, but most of the others have a limited random connection thing going on). Although there is a weird classified ad/trading post like thing you can do as well.

Cool as! The main feature I would want would be remote trading... so it doesn't matter how limited the thing is.

I'll admit, one of the biggest reasons I've not considered the DS/Pearl thing more seriously, was that thing about just not being able to trade pokemon with anyone. I don't care so much about having a full collection in the Pokedex thing... but I do like being able to collect all the Pokemon I like.

Yep, I've got a (sorely neglected) DS. But I just looked and Diamond and Pearl don't come out here until June, so I can forget about them for a while. Nevermind, I'm itching to replay Fallout after S.T.A.L.K.E.R. anyway...

It's the profiteering. In order to finish the game 100% you have to either know someone with the other version of the game of get both versions and two gameboys. Either way, Nintendo gets money.

I went for the more classic designs, and those were my favourites. The "-eon" cats were also nice, as someone said before. Of course, I am an old lady already, so I only know the old ones, I am totally unfamiliar with the new ones.

I'm also a fan of Sneasel and Umbreon. Most of the new D/P ones are kinda meh-ish to me, but I DO have Diamond so I doubt a few won't grow on me.

What in the crap are all of these crazy Pokemon? I haven't been keeping up since Crystal.

I'm going to borrow my brother's DS and play Pearl...unlike some unlucky ones I do have my older cartridges still around so I could trade with myself for some of these neat Pokemon.

My favorite is Articuno. I still prefer the Blue/Red version. The pokemon look stranger with each game that comes out.

Ok, I finally got my second badge. I like this game so far, although it's a little more frustrating for me this time. Mostly because that gym is decently difficult, especially when you know that if the Kadabra you got in a trade would obey you, you could win, but that he will only obey you consistently after you win.

For example, one starts with a stylized cutesy amphibian and give it a Greek quality. This strange creature is dubbed Socratoad, the philosophy pokémon. His type is psychic since he is mind-themed, he is 3'3" inches and weighs exactly 81lb. He evolves into Platoad and then into Aristotl (the axolotl pokémon).

Edit: Found this quiz. (http://www.pokemon.com/Dungeon/PersonalityTest/) Not sure how many options are available. It said I was calm and should be Bulbasaur the first time, it said I was docile and should be Chikorita the second time, and the third time it said I should be Torchic and that I'm sassy the third time (don't think that's right, but oh well.)

Yeah, I've told him he needs to go for more balance, like I have been doing. It takes a bit longer, but I think it's worth it. He's reminding me of the rival character; seems to be zipping through the game.

And your tip is good. The Abra's past the level when it should evolve anyway, so he'd just need to get it to go up one level. I can't remember when Gastly evolves, though.

Staraptor is a good pokemon, but I believe Infernape is far better. Of course there is the whole Fighting weakness to birds thing...

I just looked on Wikipedia. :pBoth are among my favourites. Golem, Tyranitar and Aggron are also cool. I like the Rock and Ground types best in general. I'm not sure what one I'd be most like but on psypoke I put in similar height, similar weight, green(cos I wear green often) and learns quick attack(cos I'm fast at runnin) and got Scyther and Sceptile. There are probably better ways to decide though. For the other quiz that chandelier posted on page 6, I got bulbasaur.

I still play red and blue from time to time and I still have 500 odd of the cards but I've not got any of the later games. I might get Pearl or diamond though when they come out in the UK.

He's been playing all day, it seems. His main pokemon is probably around level 50 now, and I think he started training some of the other ones, as well.

Heh, I remember pokemon. Mainly I remember that I never, ever liked it. However, I seem unable to find "so i herd u liek mudkips?" stuff anything but amusing. Damn 4chan memes.

Today being Halloween, I decided to fuck with the major retard at school when I came out of science for break. He was dressed as Ash. Knowing this was going to happen, I brough a Mudkips doll. Thus I started the conversation, making sure no one saw me.

"So I heard you like Mudkips..." "Mudkips? I LUUUUUUUUUUUUVE MUDKIPS." "O RLY? So, would you ever fuck a Mudkips, that is.." (he cuts me off before I could said 'if you were a mudkips') "OF COURSE." "Well I just happen to have a Mudkips here, and."

Before I finished the sentence, which would have resulted in me hitting him across the face with the doll, he grabbed it. In one swift motion his pants were down and he was violenly humping it. Not to get between a man and his Mudkips I started to walk away, because there is no way I'd be caught wrestling a half-naked crazy guy humping a Mudkips.

Needles to say, within 5 to 10 seconds, some girls saw him and started screaming. I cooly walked into a restroom, pretending nothing had ever happened; not that I had intended that outcome, but now that it was in play I didn't want to be involved.

I came back two minutes later, and like any wanton act on school grounds there was now a huge crowd round him. He was still fucking it and baying this real fucked up 'EEEEEEEEEEINNNNF EEEEEEEEEEINNNF' sound. Suddenly a scuffle broke out in the middle, meaning he probably did something stupid.

I asked someone what had happened. A girlfriend of one of the football players tried to get him to stop, but he bit her for trying to take it away. Someone called in a few football players (all dressed up like Road Warrior) who proceeded to pummel the shit out of the guy. Meanwhile the school police were freaking out and having trouble getting in to the situation.

A few minutes later the intruder alarm went off and we were shuffled into classrooms. Over the intercom the principal announced that someone had thrown a flaming plush toy into the library. Uh.. what the hell.

So we were kept there and about 30 minutes later the principal came on again. This time he was saying that whoever was behind the beating should turn themselves in. All of a sudden this woman began yelling "I WILL SUE YOU FOR DAMAGES. YOU LITTLE PUNKS, I'M GONNA SUE..." and it was cut off.

I asked an office later what had happened. Apparently his mother had come to pick him up and threatened to sue for the beating and 'whatever else happened.' The school threatened to counter-sue because of lewd conduct, inciting a riot, and starting a fight.

So I ask you: do you like Mudkips?

Pokemon stopped being worth trying to catch them all after they introduced the first set of 100 new Pokemon because after that, they just ran out of animals to copy. Proof? Deoxys and the little bird thing with cloud wings.

I'd never thought I'd see a Pokemon thread here. Whole thing brings up tons of memories. Anyways, as for my favorite types, it would have to be Fire and Psychic types. Steel is a close 3rd but I found it difficult to form a strategy using Steel types - most strategies revolving around Steel were defensive/stalling strategies, not my type.

As for favorite Pokemon in terms of gameplay, I'd go for a Snorlax with a Rest/Snore/Curl/Body Slam combination, equipped with the Leftovers item. It's the ultimate tank - body slam the opponent, possibly Paralyze them, Curl to increase defense, and Rest to recover HP when it runs low, then Snore to continue offensive while Asleep. Then repeat the Body Slam/Rest cycle.

In terms of both gameplay and general "favoriteness", I'd say Gardevoir (did I get the spelling correct?). First discovered this Pokemon when I played Pokemon Ruby on an emulator and instantly loved for its usefulness in the game.
