Stewart just about DESTROYED McCain. Seriously, McCain embarassed himself several times, and Stewart said quite a few things that should be said straight into the face of everyone of any particular stature who argues how good an idea it is to do what Bush did.
Proudest i've ever been of him.

Americans are the only ones who shouldn't care about the presidential elections. Our commander has much more influence over foreign incidents than domestic policy. Really the rest of the world should vote for our president while we just vote for congress.

Well, since the question is favorite for president and not favorite presidential candidate, I'd have to say Al Gore. If he ran, he would get the Democratic nomination easily, due to the fact that America has too much of an undercurrent of racism/sexism to elect an African-American or a woman. He would then beat down whoever the Republicans bring out. McCain won't win the primary based on the way the party screwed him over in 2000, Romney is a Mormon, a flip-flopper, and still widely unknown, Fred Thompson is widely unknown and incredibly sick (physically), and Guliani has too many issues to win over enough of America, though, barring a miracle, he'll probably get the nomination (as the lesser of moderate (Romney/McCain) evils). As for Gingrich...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! Must...stop...NEWT!!! :mp5:

Barrack Obama: Not enough experience, I mean comon he's still a rookie. Last time we had a rookie, it was a peanut farmer.

John McCain: A moderate but tries to be a right wing Republican at election time, so he loses out.

John Edwards: What does this guy have beside a cute face?

So far, we pretty much looking at a C list of Presidential Candidate. This would be the perfect time for a Libertarian to run, if they actually do decide to run one...

The U.S. Libertarian Party has fielded a candidate in every presidential election since 1972.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_Libertarian_Party_presidential_tickets

They pulled in almost half a million votes in 1996, but (aside from a fluke in '72), have never recieved an electoral vote.

There's another problem...

# George W. Bush (R) $367,228,801
# John Kerry (D) $326,236,288
# Ralph Nader (Ref./indep./Populist) $4,566,037
# Michael Badnarik (L) $1,093,013
# Michael Peroutka (Const.) $709,087
# David Cobb (Green) $496,658

Got some cash? :p

From what I've seen, I rather like Wesley Clark as a candidate, but I seriously doubt he'll get the nod.

As for the mainstream candidates, Giuliani (unless he does something really stupid/different before the general election) and Obama look like the best choices.

On a completely different train of thought, Cthulhu forbid that Sam Brownback wins the election.

Edit: Wait a minute... I think I may just have thought of a good candidate there. Why vote for a lesser evil?

Barack Obama. He was right about Iraq and is one of the few leading candidates who has been against the war from the beginning. His policy's truly connect with me. The Kennedyesque aure he has around him. Being a good speaker, showing he has a positive vision for this country and this world.

He has set out a list of goals which he believes would be to the benefit of the country, and not just that, he has also set out a coherant, positive set of plans to acheive those goals. Which is more then what can be said for the current President, and many of our previous Presidents.

Experience in a politician is over rated. The longer someone has been in the system the more corrupt they're likely to be. Hell the main problem with the system is that anyone who wants the job should automatically be disqualified from holding it. Obama seems like a pretty decent guy for a politician though and what I've heard from him so far sounds closer to what I'm looking for in a president than what I've heard from the others.

Kennedy and Carter didn't have much expierience but i still respect them a lot more then i respect some of our more expierienced Presidents such as Nixon.

If you have a vision that most americans share and would like to see happen, and if you have smart policy that can acheive that vision then that far outweighs whatever expierience you have.

Most skills that make a good president, such as leadership and speaking ability come naturally and spending years and years as a governor or a congressman won't necessarily help you advance those skills.

:mp5:

Gore could not win. He has moved too far to the left since his 2000 campaign. His impression is no longer center to center-left. It is more radical and that never plays well to the voters. I do think that he will run to break the Clinton/Obama deadlock that is likely to happen.

I do not see Romney as being a flip-flopper. One has to appeal to the electorate. Romney did what it took to appeal to the Massachusetts electorate. George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Ronald Reagan all had to adjust their ideology from state to national candidacies.

Fred Thompson does have wide recognition in the United States. He is not incredibly sick. He has quite an active schedule doing Law & Order, filling in/replacing Paul Harvey, and making political related meetings and speeches. That is not the sign of an incredibly sick person! He would not throw the possibility of running out there if he were incredibly sick either. Thompson's Law & Order co-star, Sam Waterston, said that Thompson is running. If this is true, Fred Thompson will be the 44th President of the United States.

McCain worries me. I believe that the GOP needs to run an outsider. Someone who is not too closely related to Bush or his administration. McCain is just to close to it.

Newt Gingrich has too much baggage. He is very intelligent, but there is just too much in his closet.

Hillary Clinton has too much baggage. Her negatives in states like Ohio, Michigan, and Virginia make me wonder why the Democrats are not discouraging her candidacy.

Obama...what can I say? He is intelligent, a good speaker, and understands the issues. I believe that he is a breath of fresh air for the Democrats. The impression that I have of him is very positive until I see his position on the issues. I believe that he is too far to the left to win. While I do not care to see him elected, I do hope that the voters do not base their vote on race. I believe, as a nation, we should have moved past that.

Guiliani: I will give him this....he sticks to his guns. I doubt that he will make it through the primaries though. The GOP primaries are too conservative for him. Plus, he is likely to insert his foot in his mouth by saying something wrong or get topedoed by doing something wrong. I would not feel comfortable with a nominee that is risky and Rudy is.

I've never heard of him, but Wiking his policies reveals that while he's good for a Republican, he's still a moron. He advocates isolationism? He's also anti-abortion, which is a huge turn off in a political candidate for me, but at least he's libertarian enough to know it's not the governments job to decide if it's right or not.
