Alanis Morissette...dissing the BEP?

She did a ballad version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W91sqAs-_-g) of the BEP's 'My humps (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vj9swNR5-lY)'.

The lyrics..um...don't seem very good in ballad form :D

So what do you think about this kind of public slagging?

Then again...wouldn't she have needed permission from them to do this?

That song can never fade into the shadows of crappiness, can it!? :( :headbang:

Parody doesn't require permission.

The lyrics don't seem good for any form, really. Now that I've heard them I detest that song, its singers and proponets even more. Dear lord that's horrible.

I think that Alanis (we're on first name basis because I didn't want to scroll down to get the spelling of her last name...or look up as I just noticed...) is making fun of a ridiculously um...ridiculous song as well as poking a fair bit of fun at her own style a bit. I thought it was hilarious and redeemed Morisette a bit for me seeing that she doesn't take herself as seriously as her image would imply.

Oh fuck off:D

Although had you not made some such comment I'd have been worried that you got stuck in the washing machine.

Love it! Wouldn't have thought she'd be capable of that, actually. :p

I have to say, though - are those the actual original lyrics?
Because to me it actually seemed like there were a lot more words than in the original where all I ever heard was "my humps, my humps, my lovely lad lumps, my humps, my humps,my lovely lady lumps, my humps,my humps, my lovely lady lumps, my humps, my humps, my lovely.... *repeat ad nauseam*"

Does that video (and song) only exist on YouTube and maybe her website or is it actually out on CD and/or MTV?

I always love to hear songs done in different styles...punk covers of country music, country covers of heavy metal and so forth...

I have no idea about whether this is just a youtube thing or not. Think she and Fergie will have a catfight in public somewhere?

Meh, this already made the Internets rounds big time. Not my fault you're out of the loop. In any case, Fergie is still Fergalicious (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2R1RC8c_8Q). I love her and her audacious impudence.

I've never been an Alanis fan, but I quite like Fergie and the BEPs.

You know, Alanis sounds more like Tori Amos than her normal sad rocker self...

I've always preferred the whore to the Madonna; the former is fun, the latter is dull and has to lie about actually being a whore by making up some cockamamie angel story to explain how she got preggerz. Bullshit, say I! Give me the integrity of the slut any day.

I tend to find Alanis grating after a while. Tori, on the other hand, is lickable.

No, not there, you filthy twat!

Old.

But it does make me hate alanis morissette slightly less. All it needs now is for someone to parody her earlier crappy songs back and the circle will be complete.

I see what Morissette was doing, but considering how appalling the original song is (and this is the first time I've heard it; I didn't get to the end) I think we can safely say "dissing" it is entirely unnecessary :p

(Also, before this thread I thought that "Fergie" referred to either the Duchess of York or, in a pinch, Alex Furguson. Ho hum )

Fergie of the BEP being the odd one out, as she can be left on with the sound off, where the others merit a total switch...
