I am not amused, iTunes.

So, I have known for quite some time that iTunes conceals music it has from people in certain areas, only allowing certain downloads in certain areas.

So of course, when I went to check out Finntroll, they didn't have it.

So I logged out, and switched my store to Finland. Then I checked, and they did have Finntroll. So I log in, and it informs me that I am only allowed to download from the US store.

Doesn't it seem bad for business to conceal your wares?

Probably has something to do with international trade agreements and copyright issues. I doubt that iTunes is passing up opportunities to sell music deliberately.

Itunes sucks anyway. Don't you need to buy the apple Ipod to use their music? Can't use it on a Zen or other MP3 player, right?

Perhaps, but Apple is getting its arse kicked by the EU for selling tracks for prohibiting EU citizens from buying tracks from its separate EU stores (not allowed to do this under EU law).

Yeah, I think that's right. Although a lot of countries are telling them to knock that off or GTFO.

There was an announcement a couple of weeks ago that Apple and one of the big music companies had signed a deal to start selling music with no DRM on it. It hasn't started yet--and I don't buy from iTunes anyway--but it shows that they're at least willing to acknowledge that the DRM model is on its way out.

Yeah, I want some damn Pillows. iTines is a big bs thing anyway. They monopolize the digital musicdistribution industry and then start arbitrarily limiting stuff as well as making it only work with their hardware.

I doubt they'd go out of their way to stop people from buying their music from them if they didn't have to.

I imagine it's nothing to do with iTunes. Why would they want to limit what they can sell in a country? They wouldn't. It'll be because of their agreements with various labels.
