Police hand honours file to CPS
Scotland Yard's Assistant Commissioner John Yates
Assistant Commissioner John Yates has been heading up the inquiry
The file from the police investigation into whether people were nominated for honours in return for money has been handed over to prosecutors.

The year-long probe had widened in recent months to look into any attempt to pervert the course of justice.

Scotland Yard said that 136 people had been interviewed. They include Tony Blair and some of his closest aides.

The Crown Prosecution Service will now decide whether anyone should be charged. All involved deny wrongdoing.

This won't bring Liebur down. Which is a shame. Either way I wonder who will be charged....if anyone.

If there are charges I would be surprised if it was senior Liebur wonks...

Is it wrong that I'm waiting in anticipation for a good and bloody trial.

Frankly I don't care if this seriously damages the Labour party. If it can kick the party into not fighting over the middle ground with the Tories then I'd be happy. Basically I want the trial to kick start a resurgence from left that will push the Blairites and Brownites out because they have damaged the public's perception of the party. I'm not sure if I'm making sense, but I want a bloodless coup d'état, and I want to sit on the sidelines and watch whilst chomping on various snacks. :)

Oh I would be over joyed to see Liebur get kicked to the sidelines...like what happened to the Tories.

Of course that leaves the door open for the Lib Dem. Well although I have little time for them I seriously doubt they can cock things up like Blair and his cronies.

So yes...I want a trial. A big bloody 'break all the conventions' trial...

I'd actually love to see a strong Opposition party as well...the Tories have no backbone and less credibility than Liebour.

A big bloody 'break all the conventions' trial...Well what will happen (or what I would like to happen) is that Labour lose all credibility and the Tories win, but with the Lib Dems making strong gains. The tories continue to fuck things up and then get booted out in the next election. Everyone turns to the Lib Dems in deperation and they are elected at the next, but one, election. They are so shocked that they have finally gained power that they spend the next two years doing nothing, but gaping at everyone. They then get their arse in gear and make a few changes, like changing the electoral system to PR, and then focus on reelection. But because they haven't done much at all except gape they are ejected just like the previous two parties. However this time Labour has become more socialist, similar to their counterparts in Scandinavia and are elected - probably with a hung parliament, but the strongest party none the less. At this point history ends and every one is happy for ever and ever and ever, and we all live of renewable energy, and biofuels with proper social justice and lots of other fluffy things. :)

Yeah well the thing is that if the Tories win the next general election I can see one of two things happen.

1 - They become so draconian that they make the Rev Smiler and the Thatch look like Francis of frikkn Assisi and really fuck the country up

2 - They become so weak (most likely) that the UK becomes even more indebted to the US. Oh...that'll also fuck the country up.

Gah. Its a total no win situation....Lib Dems as a national government...our airports would be full of people clammouring to leave...I mean Ming Campbell for fucks sake...that decision to can Beer Boi and 'elect' Ming 'I am the Undead' Campbell was a mistake of epic proportions. They will always do well in local elections...but as a national government....nah.

hmmmm....The fringe parties like UKIP and Greens are not wroth mentioning....they will never gain power. However PR will give them a voice in government. Do you want to give a UKIP/Green a deciding vote on real legislation?

I wouldn't mind UKIP or the Greens have a say in Parliament. It would provide a pressure valve for more radical groups who would feel like the democratic process does provide a system for their voices to be heard. Plus it would mean it would mean that parties would have to find listen to their electorate rather than simply make placatory gestures to them once every 4 fours and then rigourously pursue some illusory centre ground.

And here was me thinking we lived in a democracy. A failing democracy, yes, after so many years of the current Labour party in power, but a democracy nonetheless.
Can the UK really be falling into such a state of disrepair? It was in England that the first signs of democracy in a modern state appeared. It was in the unity and freedom of the UK that a great empire and age of industrial progress was born.

yeah....but do crazies have the right to vote?I thought that was the whole point of democracy, was that everyone gets the right to vote, because otherwise you get bogged down in deciding what classifies one as crazy enough to be disenfranchised. Anyway, silencing people's ability to make their voices heard has never done any good in the long run. If people are disenfranchised by the system, then instead of working with it they will work against it.

Perhaps it didn't give people the right to a vote, but it certainly began to limit the power of the aristocracy, especially the monarchy.

Although the Swiss certainly get top marks for real democracy and the point in time in which they achieved it; we had to lag behind on that score... :(
