Remember the good old days? You know, when criminals were branded werewolves or witches, and accused of being possessed by the devil? Fox News does. Check out this fine article.

Is Rupert Murdoch just fucking with everyone's head? This can't be a real news source.

This has to be some kind of joke.
Lauren Green is FOX News Channel's Religion Correspondent.

Does the "author" of that "article" need to be sodomized with a glowing, hot iron and then be drawn and quartered like the heretic she is?
/Just trying this "put a question mark at the end of my suggestion so that I can pretend it's not"-trend out.

Ah the good ole' days when we didn't have to listen to all the BS that comes out of Fox News.

Roberts...says words are one of Satan’s tools to bring about Man’s destruction...
...but does so exclusively through an elaborate interpretive dance routine, to avoid satanic forces.
Sure, blame it on the devil. I'm sure it will make someone feel more comfortable believing that a human can't do something like massacring a few dozen people without some kind of demonic possession. I wonder if it helps people sleep more soundly at night?

Religion correspondent! It's her job to explore the religious side of the issue.. and she does so in a fairly non-zealous manner, if you read the entire article.
Personal responsibility? The devil made me do it!

I wonder if pleading "demonic possession" would get you out of going to prison if you're jury is comprised of Oral Roberts University graduates?
Apparently not.
You can't blame me for trying.

Mrkai's right. The lunatic here is that guy from Oral Robers University, not the correspondent.

Although, in fairness, the devil may have made you do it...

Religious side? I suppose we can give the side of every nutcase. So we will have a story about how maybe, just maybe, the devil caused the tragedy at Virginia Tech. After all, newspapers aren't actually tabloids and this is a totally legitimate story. I suppose.

“Based on what I’ve seen in the news," Roberts said in an interview, "there’s no doubt that this act was Satanic in origin."

i stopped reading after that.

There's never any harm in asking "what if?" So long as a theory is restrained by healthy skepticism, even the seemingly absurd can shed valuable incite on an issue.

That's very inciteful of you.

This comment is messing with the homonym centres of my mind.
Oh, yes, I meant insightful. Though, if nothing else, this thread certainly shows that alternative theories can incite people as well.
As to whether I'm insightful or an inciter.. well, I like to think I'm a bit of both. It's always nice to get people talking about something they wouldn't have otherwise.

I don't see whats wrong with posting this article. The article is not speaking for fox news, it's just an article on Roberts and other academics whos ideas have already sparked controversy and debate. I'm sure many people will find this sort of thing an interesting read.
The battle of good vs. evil in all of us is not a simple choice between two forks in a road, but a cosmic war being waged over our souls.
Says Dr. Richard Lints of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary: “The lesson, I think, is that when we don’t take our own evil seriously, we are much more liable to perpetrate acts of evil.”
Amazing... How can anyone take anything that comes from Fox News seriously?

Their little motto thing is: "We report. You decide" except this blatantly isn't just reporting the facts and leaving people to come to their own viewpoint. How silly of them.

Roberts describes Cho's writings as “just words,” and says words are one of Satan’s tools to bring about Man’s destruction.
Heheh, quick! The bible is full of words! It must be the work of Satan! :p
*coughs* so, yeah, christianity starts off, but falls to the side and breaks a leg, it's out of the race!
Moving on to judaism, it's already far more realistic and actually dealing with what we see everyday (while still being religious). It does start to make more sense, what with the talking of emotional prisons and such, which may indeed have been the case. Judaism 1, Christianity 0
For some reason, atheists have been included in a religious document. Fortunately, they make a statement that has Nothing to do with the matter, so they showed up for another race (which is as it should be, but that puts them at the following points: N/A)
Oh wait, christianity seems to be catching up on the broken leg, stating that it's pure insanity and nothing to do with religion. It seems they joined the Atheists though, in the case of this particular article. However, the rev. manages to finish off with a fatality and might just score a point.
Unfortunately, Judaism kinda already stated it in greater detail, so the end score in this article is: Judaism 2, Christianity 1, Atheism N/A

Did I say anything about bias? No I didn't! If I had wanted to speak of bias, I would've said either Right-wing News or Foxcist News. In the same manner, I wouldn't have called New York Times anything, because I rarely read them and rarely hear about them. Curse the advertisement of a news station through its bad aspects!
This is an editorial. It should not be under fox NEWS.
They seem to really like to blur the lines between opinion and fact, as evidenced by this for example.
