"Your" song...

Let's talk about music.
Do you have a song that just makes "click" in your head, because it hits the nail on the head so perfectly? Do you have a song that summarises you, or how you feel?
Obviously, it changes from time to time or even from mood to mood, but in the past few weeks I think "The Perfect Fit" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJRKrDeOWyE) (lyrics (http://www.dresdendolls.com/downloads_n_lyrics/lyrics/perfectfit.htm)) by the Dresden Dolls has really struck a nerve with me..."i used to be the smart one; sharp as a tack; funny how that skipping years ahead
has held me back".
I'm becoming such a brigadier...funny how I went through my teen years never really being a fan of any band or artist, but now that I'm supposedly an adult the Dresden Dolls come along.

I had a few songs that gave me some bad memories. You Shook Me All Night Long by AC/DC, Photograph and Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad by Def Leppard. I decided not to think after a while about it and just rock out.

Guess what song started just as I clicked on this thread? Yep. The Perfect Fit. Odd how it goes somehow, huh?
I'm not sure I have a song that describes me or how I feel. Most of the songs that I ascribe meaning to in terms of my life aren't songs per se, as they're lyricless - Explosions in the Sky's Your Hand In Mine (http://youtube.com/watch?v=IrMfIqWnYSo) and 65daysofstatic's Radio Protector (http://youtube.com/watch?v=_qSptlkMuC8) are good examples.

At present, it's Shellac's 'Prayer to God'. Just love the lyrics:
To the one true God above:
here is my prayer -
not the first you've heard, but the first I wrote.
(not the first, but the others were a long time ago).
There are two people here, and I want you to kill them.
Her - she can go quietly, by disease or a blow
to the base of her neck,
where her necklaces close,
where her garments come together,
where I used to lay my face...
That's where you oughta kill her,
in that particular place.
Him - just fucking kill him, I don't care if it hurts.
Yes I do, I want it to,
fucking kill him but first
make him cry like a woman,
(no particular woman),
let him hold out, hold back
(someone or other might come then fucking kill him).
Fucking kill him.
Kill him already, kill him.
Fucking kill him, fucking kill him,
Kill him already, kill him,
Just fucking kill him! {repeats}
so positive and full of affirmation.

Dating myself here...
"Against The Wind" by Bob Seger
It seems like yesterday
But it was long ago
Janey was lovely, she was the queen of my nights
There in the darkness with the radio playlng low
And the secrets that we shared
The mountains that we moved
Caught like a wildfire out of control
Till there was nothing left to burn and nothing left to prove
And I remember what she said to me
How she swore that it never would end
I remember how she held me oh so tight
Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then
Against the wind
We were runnin' against the wind
We were young and strong, we were runnin'
against the wind
And the years rolled slowly past
And I found myself alone
Surrounded bv stranners I thought were my friends
I found myself further and further from my home
And I guess I lost my way
There were oh so many roads
I was living to run and running to live
Never worried about paying or even how much I owed
Moving eight miles a minute for months at a time
Breaking all of the rules that would bend
I began to find myself searchin'
Searching for shelter again and again
Against the wind
A little something against the wind
I found myself seeking shelter against the wind
Well those drifters days are past me now
I've got so much more to think about
Deadlines and commitments
What to leave in, what to leave out
Against the wind
I'm still runnin' against the wind
Well I'm older now and still
Against the wind

Lol. Dopethrone is their best album IMO, but I enjoy them all.
And the genre labelling might be silly, but there is a huge overlap between the stoner/sludge/doom metal scenes anyway...if you enjoy one, you tend to find common ground in the others too (at least, I certainly did), since they all go for that whole "slow and heavy" vibe and have nearly the same musical roots. If you decide you like that sort of stuff I can recommend a ton of it. :)

Hard to say. There's Ramesses (http://www.myspace.com/ramesses666), which features a couple of ex-band members...not overly familiar with them though (edit - added the link...they seem pretty good, poor recording quality excused). Sleep are stoner/doom as well, but Electric Wizard are a good deal heavier. The closest thing would probably be a band called Grief, but they don't really have much of a psychedelic vibe. You could find similarities with stuff like Eyehategod too.
Start with Cathedral, Candlemass, or My Dying Bride.

Stars and Stripes of Corruption by the Dead Kennedys.
Our land, I love it too
I think I love it more than you
I care enough to fight
The stars and stripes of corruption
Lets bring it all down!
If we dont try
If we just lie
If we cant find
A way to do it better than this
Who will?
This is the tune that often plays
If you don't like it you're a gay
And if you're tired of gay being used in that context
Then I'll just say "your mom" 'cause there's no screwing with the best
That's it. It does not repeat, that would be annoying.

Ain't no shame up in my game - in fact I'm mentally deranged
Oxycontin in my system - man I'm feeling kinda strange
Watch me choke about this dope - Blueberry from Texas
You wanna git up in rotation that's too bad cause I'm stressing
'Bout now its 1:30 am - 11 Percocets just entered me
15 minutes from this second - I'll be crawling on my knees
Laughing at the crowd of all the clowns that be surrounding me
Take another loritab to calm me down and let me see
Body be relaxed - muscles be loose, and you have stopped the pain
No more bitching 'bout your day and work and driving in the rain
Put up wit' the fussing and discussion - I plant in your brain
Hypnotize ya minds, like all the rest but I come through the veins
Take a chill pill to slow me down and git back in this game
Gatta be up on ya P's and Q's to even feel it mane
[Hook 2x - Lil' Wyte]
Oxycotton - Xanax Bars - Percocet and Lortab
Valiums - Morphine - patches - Exstacy - and it's all up for grab
What'cha want - what'cha need - hit me up I got you mane
What'cha want - what'cha need - hit me up I got you mane
[Lord Infamous]
Scarecrow, scarecrow whats that you popping?
A powerful pill they call Oxy Contton
But it'so tiny, that it got you dragging
Haven't you heard big things come in small packages
I prefer the orange's with the black O-C
Take to and you cannot move up out ya seat
Some people melt 'em down in a needle and shoot 'em up
But I pop 'em with Seroquel like glue, I am stuck
[Crunchy Blac]
See I'ma pill popper - so I'ma keep poppin' em
Gimme 20 Xanax and I'ma start droppin' em
They ain't no stoppin' him - when they in my system
Mane I really miss 'em - can you help me get 'em
I heard you have Clidina, on that fucking pill shed
Gimme some fuckn Ec' - gimme some Percocets
I need me some four bar, so I can break down
Cause a nigga like me 'finna take it to funky town
[Hook 2x - Lil' Wyte]
Oxycontin - Xanax Bars - Percocet and Lortab
Valiums - Morphine - patches - Ecstacy - and it's all up for grab
What'cha want - what'cha need - hit me up I got you mane

Why the fuck are you listening to rap? 'Cause that sure as hell sounds like rap. I don't mind hip-hop influenced stuff (Nu Metal, Rage Against the Machine, etc.) but straight rap sucks.

Cold Chisel's "Flame Trees", "Bow River" & Radiohead's "High & Dry" have always meant something to me.

lame and cliched as it is, creep by Radiohead
or Cop Killer by Ice T, I love the rebelliousness and rage of it all
