What is "sexy" to you??

For me, it used to be shallow things, like nice legs, or a nice set of boobs. But now, I am starting to realize that I am attracted to modesty. Thats right, I find modesty sexy.

Well, I can't say I really have any frame of reference to answer the question, but there is one thing I can contribute.. sobriety is essential. I've dealt with far too many drug-addled women in my time.. It's just not something I want to be around.

You know what's hot on boys? Between your tummy and your hip, you've got like some kind of incline... That's sooo *mmm* ^^

but if someone shows off, it just takes all the *mmm* and turns it to *uugh*

I also hate it when people come on to you like they already have you. So I totally agree with modesty being sexy!

Semi-agree... Not sure if "sexy" is the right word. If they act confident and like they feel they're attractive (without being arrogant or aloof) they probably will be. Oh, and they should look cheerful. Mardy people aren't attractive, and everybody looks better when they smile.

But long, brown hair helps :)

A girl who knows she's sexy knows she doesn't need to show it off. Just underline it. Confidence is the sexiest thing.

As for guys, I find it a nice, open smile terribly sexy. And I always fall for boyish charm.

I find smart women to be quite sexy. Glasses too. Of course, there are a lot of physical characteristics I find sexy, but I also like smiles quite a lot. I also think that if a woman is mysterious, that really helps things. I really get atracted if the woman I´m dealing with is not predictable and acts like everyone´s else.

Also, I like older women. The ones between 25-30 are the best, I´m pretty sure of it. They are quite confidant in themselves, and dont act like the spoiled teenagers I find sometimes. They are also more vain.

physical/visual things are more my 'turn-ons', the things i find sexy... like big pretty eyes, a nice smile, good legs (ones with shape/substance damnit... not icky stick-thin), long hair, preferably blonde...

my turn-offs tend to be less physical in nature and more psychological or behavioural, like being arrogant, having fun at others' expense or putting others down, that sort of thing. that said, bad teeth is the ultimate turn off for me :p

Completely agree. Stick legs are the worst thing a woman can have. They are just too fucking ugly.

I also heavily dislike women with "low butts" as I like to call them. They are the ones with short legs (not midgets), when you look at them and think "hunm, her butt is almost touching the ground", and not in a good way.

The most sexy thing is that when a woman understands me, and agrees with me. It never happens, but if it did, it would totally turn me on. Therefore, it goes without saying that I like smart women.

Good sense of humor is also essential. I've never met a woman, who didn't have a good sense of humor in her own opinion, but many of them still didn't find racist or dead baby jokes hilarious. As I always say, there are no bad jokes, only bad senses of humor.

Modesty is great, and a certain amount of shyness is very sexy too, as long as it doesn't make the woman difficult to interact with.

Of physical things, the sexiest thing is pretty eyes. Eyeglasses will always increase woman's hotness by 10-20%, no matter how hot she is to begin with. That is as long as the glasses are not the kind with the thick black frames. Those are just... *barf*.

Thin body is a must too, as well as long hair.

Well, I like tall women, and I guess most of us here like them too.

Now, I´ve noticed that in women (maybe in man too, I never cared), what usually makes a woman tall or small is how long her legs are. Tall women, long legs, small women, short legs.

That sounds obvious, but the deal is that almost every women has almost the same torso and abdomen size. The main thing that sets them apart are their legs.

With these women with "low butts", they have the body at almost the same size of everyone else, but their legs are short. That means their butt is very low compared to others. Not bigger or smaller, just in a lower position. And unlike petite women, who usually are smaller alltogether (and look awesome btw), these women have the body that is very similar to tall women, with the detail that their legs are very low.

Mind that they are quite hard to find, fortunaly.

I have a thing for the colour of hair that's not auburn, but is brown with hints of red in it, it seems to change colour depending on the way you look at it. That's on girls. For guys, not sure about a specific colour, but I prefer longish hair, not shaved or very short.

Dunno, diferent standarts I guess, you use smaller women as the standart, while I do the oposite.

Girls with very long legs, but that arent tall? Well, they are pretty rare, but I usually dont like them much if they are too skinny. If they have some curves, they can be quite awesome.

I only remember two women like that. One of them was quite skinny, even after going to gym (I met her there). She had these very long legs, that even with a lot of workout, looked like sticks (major turn off).

There was this one I met in college that had a quite average face, but had an amazing butt. You know, it was almost bizzarre: you have this very skinny girl with long legs, but with a huge and awesome ass. IN the start I didnt like her that much, but after a time her face stoped looking so average lol :D

I'll be honest: powerful women, or at least women who have power and use it wisely. I've noticed I'm often attracted to such women in fiction, such as Elizabeth Weir off of Stargate: Atlantis.

I also like cute women...cuteness is far sexier than "traditional" sexy any day. Also, athletic, but not overly so...the ones who are healthy, toned, strong without being overly muscular or anything like that.

Also, long hair...usually red or black, but so long as there is a contrast with the skin colour it's fine with me...it works out as a nice symmatry. Storm's white hair and black skin in the X-Men movie is a perfect example of what I mean.

But, lest we stray off topic...

I also tend not to discrriminate based on age, apart from being more than three years younger than myself, usually. About plastic restorative surgery, I`ve seen quite a few cases of them, and the results are usually horrible. I saw a bunch of women who had to take their boobs due to cancer, and the result in constructing them back looks very bad.

This thread is a great ego-booster, since half the guys here seem to be lusting for women with my hair. :)

As for me, in the category of comparatively serious sexy things, I will put intelligence, confidence, a sense of humor, an appreciation for good music, and a willingness to be seen publicly in a skirt. (That last one sounds silly, but it's not - I don't think anything turns me off faster than a guy who's insecure in his masculinity.)

As for comparatively shallow/silly sexy things, tuxedos! I firmly believe that every guy looks hotter in a tux, and I know I'm far from alone in this. As a choral singer, I dearly love choirs in which the guys are expected to perform in tuxes, as there is very little more delectably ogle-able than several dozen excellent singers in tuxedos. ;)

Yes, unfortunaly. Just look at all those people severely burned, and try to figure out what plastic surgery did to them.

Now get an average person, and you can get great results out of it.

Yes, unfortunaly. Just look at all those people severely burned, and try to figure out what plastic surgery did to them.

Now get an average person, and you can get great results out of it.

First is cheerfulness and confidence about herself, a girl who is able to be both cheerful and confident extends an aura of attractiveness, even if she doesn't conform to some sort of ideal western body image. After that it's important for her to be hardworking and intelligent, lazy morons are a total turnoff for me. Third is the actual body appearance, let's face it, I'm shallow, and not going to even think about a girl who is 5'4" and 220 pounds. Perfection is certainly not required, but she must have at least average looks.

But first are cheerfulness and confidence.

As a choral singer, I dearly love choirs in which the guys are expected to perform in tuxes, as there is very little more delectably ogle-able than several dozen excellent singers in tuxedos. ;)

Well, unfortunaly reconstructive surgery doesnt give a lot of money. Beauty surgeries give much more, specially since the market is much bigger. That means that the best professionals usually dont do reconstructive surgeries, and labs dont work on such methods, meaning technological growth in this area is quite smaller compared to beauty improvement methods.

One of the many reasons the market should not direct all research.

... Why are you running away?

Eyes turn me on. Especially green ones. Apart from that, I prefer people who're in good shape, ooze confidence, are curious and crazy enough to indulge my whims, and can outsmart me. The latter's not critical for a one nighter, but probably the single most important thing in a relationship. Otherwise I tend to end up thinking of and treating the poor bastard like a minion.

Tall is good. as is long hair, glasses, freckles, slimness, average height, Swedish, nice legs, strength, independce, blue eyes, reheads, short hair, intelligent, well-read, a sense of fragility, modesty, curly hair, short girls, Asian, boobies, fun-loving, honesty, smiling, dimples are cute, brunette, vunerability, it's good if she has some weight to herself, outspokenness, cunning, straight hair, Georgia has good-looking girls...

The list could go on; I'm okay with about anything, really.

I like skinny boys who don't have much in the way of chest/body hair. Usually with brown or darker hair, longish (well, shorter than chin length) I don't like buzzed hair so much, I want to be able to run my fingers through it and play with it.

Some muscles, but not some sort of over-exerted-I'm-compensating-for-a-lack-of-personality/self-confidence type of muscle. Just enough to be slightly defined. Toned, if you will.

Some artisitic/creative ability is also hot. As is a sense of humour and being smart...

I find a difference between physical attractiveness and 'sexy'. The superficial aspects of physical attraction vary, but I generally like smaller women with long hair, and a certain shapeliness.

Sexy though... plenty of women are sexy, and it's not really about looks. It's about confidence, furtive looks, and slightly crooked smiles. Intelligence is a huge factor, particularly a conversational intelligence. Sexy is sometimes related to dressing in a way that flatters that particular woman, yet invites the mind to wonder how that dress would like on the floor. Sexy is neither young nor old, for there are women in their 20's and women in their 40's who I find equally sexy.

The sexiest thing, is the blush that happens when women laugh or realize that you speak their body language. Most importantly, women who are into me, are sexy.

Try as you might, you aren't going to able to control whether or not people are going to find you attractive. Some will, some won't... in varying degrees depending on how much you try to fight it.

Better to go about your business, have some confidence, and don't give anyone the impression that you're interested, and if they get that impression, make sure in no uncertain terms that you are not.

Probably attitude is the sexiest thing, coupled with intelligence. I've noticed that even if I didn't think they were particularly attractive at first, by now, most of my female friends seem extremely hot to me, because of those factors. I think if you hang around someone whose personality you think is really awesome, you begin to perceive them differently and visually they eventually seem more attractive to you than they would otherwise. At least, that's how it seems to work for me.

Anyway, speaking of visual appeal, I find eyes that seem like they can stab into me really sexy. You know, the really piercing, intense kind. Preferably rather large. Long, dark hair is nice, too. I tend to like petite women a lot, it seems, like my ladyfriend, who is 5'3" and oh so cute. She doesn't have short legs, her whole body is just tiny.

Well....curvyness. No stick-thinnery for me, thankyou. I need to be able to debate with a lady. If I can't argue politics, then...well...it shows how sad I am there :D Erm...they have to be more confident than me. Confidence enough for the two of us. I'm a pretty shy person myself.

The ability to play an instrument. I play Piano (badly), so it'd be nice to have someone to play with. Not in that way for the rude minded.

Erm...this is turning into a "what I find attractive" thing. Back on track, methinks, a smile helps. It really does. Doesn't really matter what you look like, a smile will result in a conversation. And from there, who knows. Literacy doesn't hurt. Well-spoken. I love that in a women. Articulacy with words. Fantastic.

Exactly, I´m glad someone understands me. After being rejected by Chandelier and being mistaken as a internet creepy guy, I feel miserable.

Anyway, its 10 PM here, I`m going out.

I can't take it as a compliment. That would be immodest. But it's so confusing, because it's like a paradox now. The idea that modesty can be attractive messes everything up. I'm so confused.:(

Someone believing you are attractive is immodest? I can't really agree with that, it is not as if you are dressing or acting in a way that could be viewed "immodest" it is simply the belief of someone else, not under your control at all. Besides, one would have to be really pug-ugly or dressed in a burka to completely avoid such a compliment.

Chandy, you have many attractive traits, you just have to work on making yourself unavailable. If you are out of their league they will leave you alone, it won't take much work, all you really need is the attitude. ;)

I have to believe that I'm ugly. I just have to believe that. But if I do then it'll make it hard for me, and my therapist told me not to. But I need to believe this. It hurts to be told I'm attractive. It goes against what I have to believe so that I can feel safe.

I've been pretty successful at school. Most of the people there probably think I'm ugly (which is true, but isn't, but I don't know. I'm so confused, because sometimes I think that I'm not ugly, but then I think that pride and vanity are bad things so I should hate myself so that I can be a good person). My hair is a lot more messed up and my back is hunched over from my backpack at school, which isn't really conveyed in any of the pictures I've posted here. So do the kids at the middle school my brothers go to. I heard some of them making fun of me, so that must mean that they think I'm ugly. But it doesn't make me feel good, but it should because I want to be ugly so I can be safe. So I don't know what to do anymore, if being ugly won't make me safe. It's probably better than them thinking I'm pretty though. But I'm so afraid, and I'm crying right now, because I don't know how I can be safe. If I can't control what other people think about me then I don't know how I can be safe and then I'll get hurt.

I used to be better at that in middle school and early in high school when people asked me out (well, I maintain that they were just pretending to ask me out, because they were either in a group and laughing or a group asked for one person, which means that they were just trying to make fun of me). I'm not as good at it anymore. I need to get better at scaring people away from me then. But that might be mean, but I have to make sure that I'm safe.

Anyway, I'm so confused right now. Nothing makes any sense.:(

They shouldn't compliment me though. Not about appearance. I like compliments about other things, things that are true.

Anyway, sorry to talk about myself so much. Zilam told me about this earlier, and it really scares me. And then Northern Borders scared me, too. I'm just so confused and tired, and...well, sorry. I'm rather fond of a girl who is smart, quick-witted, strong willed, politically motivated, and a musician. Patience is a rather good thing too, since I'm particularly thick.

Physically, I like pale girls, I hate fake tans. They make me sick. Hair color I'm not so picky about. I prefer Light brown or red, but I'm okay with blonde or black. Tall or short doesn't really matter to me, although all the girls I end up falling for tend to be short, so I could be lying there. No huge asses either. Don't like those at all (and don't understand the male obsession with them at all).

Mostly, though, anyone who can tolerate me and is willing to be patient with me, though.

Okay, tell me if this is weird:

I really find it hot when a guy is in the process of getting all dressed up. Like, when they've got the nice dress shirt on, and they're kind of working on the tie, but they're still in boxers and socks and are a bit un-buttoned and stuff.

I know it's normal to like seeing attractive people undressed and all, but I have this particular fondness for semi-undressed people in DRESS clothing. Don't know what that's about.

Oh, that makes perfect sense to me. I couldn't possibly explain why being half-in and half-out of a tux is so very hot, but it quite definitely is. :)

Yeah I prefer fairer skinned as well, though I dont mind tans. For some reason I am unable to find black women attractive. Some people have the nerve to tell me thats racist, but I have no prejudices againt black people in general, and how am I supposed to help what I'm attracted to? Personally I find Indian women to be the most attractive. Heres a picture of a popular bollywood actress Aishwariya Rai.

http://images.askmen.com/galleries/model/aishwarya-rai/pictures/aishwarya-rai-picture-2.jpg

When it comes to personality traits, I prefer them smart, able to make good conversation and have to have a good sense of humor. Oh, and they have to have an interest in staying physically fit, and look after their bodies well without becoming overly muscular. Yep, I'm as shallow as they come and have no problem with women judging my looks by their own shallow criterea for beauty. :p

In direct contradiction to my "most sexy" rating...if we're going to get anything serious going, he will need to be self-employed or independently wealthy. The employee mindset...shudder!! Not Broke. I can't tolerate the entire "poor" mindset, or the penny-pinching, that comes from people who've come to accept longstanding brokedness. He doesn't have to be outright rich, but definitely and positively he cannot be broke. (Penny-pinching = nitpicking.) If he cares whether the bread costs $2.49 instead of $2.39 I want nothing to do with him!

A lot of women surprise me when they think we like size 0 women. For me thats a turn off.

I don't like fat women or size 0 women. There's a nice in between, curvy without being fat, slim without being stick thin...

And yeah i like a nice ass and legs but in my opinion nice eyes and a nice smile are far more important. Because those eyes and that smile will last a lot longer then those nice legs and that hot ass.

I'm lucky though my wife physiclly is perfect in my mind. Nice body AND nice eyes/smile.

But i couldn't marry her if i was just attracted to her physiclly. The personality of a women is very important. That's another thing women think men don't care about, but we do.

Me too, I heavily dislike fake tans. They look too orange, and very diferent from the real deal (which I really like). In fact, I hate almost everything fake a woman has. Fake hair color, fake eye color, fake boob size (not implants). If she has a fake anything, I think she looks much worst.

About butts, well, they are good. They are soft, they add curves to a woman. She gives you something to play with. So much that I rate butts over boobs: they are so much better looking. And its very hard to find a woman with nice boobs, at least here in Brazil.

Black women? I have nothing against her. In fact, right now, my favorite hot celebrity is Beyonce: DAMN, she is hot. Scarlet Johanson comes second, but she is not near as hot as Beyonce. :D

Exactly. That's what I'm counting on. If I can convince myself that I'm ugly then other people with think that I'm ugly and then I'll be safe. I have to force myself to believe it so that everything will turn out ok. It usually works, but then if someone for whatever reason (insanity or mocking me or whatever) insists that I'm attractive everything gets messed up. Sometimes I can even look in a mirror now and not think that I'm ugly. It's all messed up.

Well, I don't think I should thank people for obviously lying to me. I say thank you when people compliment me, but I perceive compliments about looks as insults because they're saying that I've failed in what I've been trying to do. So I react to them in different way then I would to something I perceive as actually being a compliment, especially if they scared me like you did before (you mentioned stalking, and that really scared me).

And if I say thanks and people are actually sincere about it then they'll think it means that I like it and keep harassing me about it because they're obviously crazy then. Well, in real life I usually would say thanks anyway because I always try to be polite anyway. But online it's too creepy and I don't know what to say.

Ok dude, I think you're only problem is that you have a low self esteem perhaps?

You need to have a more positive outlook on life. If people say something like, "You're ugly" then you have to use this as a counter-attack by saying something like, "Really? Because I think I'm pretty god damn hot!" or "Well that's too bad, because to me, you look like a complete piece of shit."

This might be easier for me though because I'm pretty impervious as to what people think of me.

Anyway, don't be polite back to these people who are harrassing you. You need to let them know that you're not a complete pushover and that you're tougher than you look. If they are being insincere, and say something along the lines of, "You look good today" or what not, then respond with a (to a dude) "Me too" or (to a girl) "So that means you want to date me right? Should I pick you up around 8:00?"

I don't know if I'm rambling or not, but I use little smart ass reponses to people who are complete assholes and it works beautifully.

I'm thinking you should do the same.

I usually don't think about it. As long as no one expresses any attraction to me, I'm fine. So it actually is pretty rare that I think about it. It just bother me a whole lot when I do.

I also have an idea that maybe I feel like this more often around the time right before my period. I did a search and found that all of the threads I created in the past about this topic were around this time of the month. So I don't know if that contributes or if it is just a coincidence.

Ok. Going on the internet is my main hobby, along with Phantom of the Opera stuff.

So do what I said, and reverse the genders.

Ok, so it's probably different for you since you're a girl, but you could still TRY my idea right?

As I said, the best defense is a good offence.

But it's different because I want them to think I'm ugly. The problem is when they don't.

Jeez girl, you need a lot of help indeed.

Fortunaly college will change you. If it doesnt, you will have a very hard ride on this life.

I think my psychiatrist has helped me a lot. I just haven't seen her in a while.

I don't believe that's quite the issue. Seriously, I thought I summarized it pretty well.

I'm female, you know. And when I mean that they're harassing me, I mean that they're calling me attractive, not that they're calling me ugly. They think that they're complimenting me but really they're hurting me. I'm trying to make everyone think I'm ugly so that that won't happen.

Too mellodramatic for my tastes. You're not Erik. I can understand sort of, I went through this period where I identified with all of these outcast characters of tragic romance, Erik in Phantom of the Opera, Quasimodo, Frankenstein's monster. Characters that were so deformed and different that they didn't seem to even deserve love and if anyone tried it would result in the death of the 'monster.' These are noble tragic characters, the pretty people will never understand, and you do so you can't be pretty.

Well, they're works of fiction. You're not Erik, or Quasimodo, or a monster. It's not going to rob you of insight if you're not a monster. Tragic characters make good reading, not so much good living. A compliment isn't hurtful, it's a compliment. Don't be so hasty to put your upturned palm to your forehead.

For me, it used to be shallow things, like nice legs, or a nice set of boobs. But now, I am starting to realize that I am attracted to modesty. Thats right, I find modesty sexy.

Sexy is a lot more complicated than a lot of people think.

It has to strike a fairly delicate balance between showing enough to promise passion and hiding enough to make it seem that it is worth pursuing. If not enough is offered some men will get frustrated and pursue easier game. If too much is shown, or promised, some men will loose interest. So the girl has to ask herself what kind of guy is she hoping to attract.

The need for that balance is universal among mammals, but varies as much as the need for companionship (cats just like to know they have neighbors, but don't like to share. Gazelles that like "me time" get eaten by leopards). Male Cheetahs will gang up and chase a female over many miles for several days. You might think that they'd like it if they didn't have to work so hard, but if the female can't run the males get bored and the female doesn't ovulate. Apparently not running is the cheetah equivalent of Daisy Dukes and a wet T-shirt.

Another weird animal kingdom thing-

A breed of turkeys, don't know what kind, are attracted to size and will woo the largest female they can find. Researchers made a comicly large mock up of a turkey and placed it amongst the real turkeys and the male turkeys fell all over themselves to get at the large fake turkey ignoring the real female turkeys that were there as well.

When you're scared of something that poses no genuine threat, you need to get rid of that fear somehow. I'm sure you can see analogies with various other things in life that one could worry about.

Let me just re-iterate: compliments are not threats.

Here's a possible analogy: I once saw a programme on TV where someone had a phobia about bananas. They were afraid of bananas. Now, can you see how your fear about compliments is no more rational than fearing bananas?

Is a markscheme like a rubric? If it is, my teachers give me a rubric beforehand for major assignments so that we know what should be included, but it might be different because I'm in high school. Plus, the work I was doing is a chemistry lab report and the rubric is always pretty much the same. (I just have to finish typing it now, since I finished the post-lab questions last night).

Well, ours are very specific. My most recent was finding finding CuSO4.XH20.

Evaluation stuff was like: Candidate must have found 2 procedural errors and suggested justified modifications to both.

To be honest, it does make the coursework a whole lot easier than it should be, even though I try not to use them.

Oh. Ours aren't that specific. Just the general grading thing for every lab report, although this one is slightly different in that it's a qualitative lab and doesn't have all the usual calculations, just balancing equations instead.

It does make it a lot easier when you know how it's going to be graded.

Ok. Well ours is really general in some areas so there's more room. Like the conclusion doesn't really have to be anything specific, it just has to be relevant to the topic of the lab and we just need a source for our information. But in other areas, like the procedures and the data tables, we basically just have to type them in. Which is pretty easy but can take a long time.

Well, we don't have to copy procedures and suchlike, it's a case of: Take a markscheme, do the experiment, note your results, analyse, evaluate.

Doesn't always go to plan though. In the CuSO4.XH2O business, the KI solution (starch presence indicator for those who don't know), giving us results of 5cm3 where it should have been 25cm3 in a titration. Mass confusion was fantastic. Everyone panicking, wondering why we're getting X to be 50 instead of 5.
