Change in french near- and middle-east policies?

This morning, Mrs.Khouri, a lebanese journalist of Al-Arabiya, interviewed by the italian state television (RAINews24), said that the lebanese people are afraid that the three major candidates to the french presidentials (Royal, Bayrou and Sarkozy) are more friendly to Israel than to Lebanon. Chirac was seen by the lebanese as a friend of their country, but now they're afraid that the french foreign policy will assume a pro-Israel attitude.
France - said Mrs.Khouri - has always been liked by the lebanese: most lebanese speak french, many lebanese youth attend to french schools.

I think that, while Sarkozy might be a bit more pro-Israel than Chirac (for the sake of the atlantic alliance), Royal and Bayrou are less likely to change route: the fears voiced by Mrs.Khouri are quite excessice, imho. France isn't going to drop Lebanon, even now that they left the command of UNIFIL 2 to Italy.

What do you think?

If you like bombs so much, why don't you bomb yourself, while you're at it?;)

I agree. Sarko will want to follow the lead of the US, but things are unlikely to change drastically with Royal or Bayrou.

Still, it's a shame that none of them have talked very much about their intended foreign policy, be it in relation to the Middle East, to Africa, to the United States or even to the EU.
