Popular Bands You Hate: Alternative Version (The poll is actually good this time)

So, here we go again. Vote for what is, in your opinion, the suckiest of these popular alt rock bands. Next week it'll be a different genre (Probably metal or punk.)

I say Nine Inch Nails again.

EDIT: Never mind. I actually voted fallout boy. They suck even moreso then NIN.

If its opinions, then, in mine, they all unanimously suck. Give me Beethoven and Mozart anyday.

Fallout Boy, eh, at least their songs sound somewhat different when compared side by side... The same can't be said for Nickelback. Oh god, they fucking suck.

Yeah, I edited it so it makes that clear.

Anyway, I actually like System of a Down.

But I also like screamo, which probably voids my tastes in music to most of you.

Unless you are saying "I don't like Run-DMC because I don't like turntabling" then it would just be another "omg rap isn't music" thread. Not only pointless but just fucking retarded.

What, in your opinion, is so bad about NIN? You make a poll with Coldplay, System of a Down, Panic! At the Disco, Fallout Boy and Nickelback and you still say NIN are the worst?

Read the edit. I made the post before I fully made the poll, so I forgot about fallout boy and the others until I actually made the poll.

So yes, although I dislike NIN (I don't think they suck, actually. More just aren't my thing. I kind of typed without thinking there. They are almost assuredly better then pretty much every other band on the poll. My bad.)

Without clicking the link, I'm going to guess that that's the thing where they play 2 Nickelback songs at once to demonstrate they sound noticeably similar. Am I right?

I don't like Coldplay, Death Cab for Cutie, Panic! At the Disco, Fallout Boy or Nickelback. Nirvana are awesome, System of a Down and Radiohead are good, and i've never really gotten much into NiN...

Finally, someone who agrees with me. Today's music is too simple.
If you're after raw complexity on par with the great classical composers, it seems to me an obvious fact that you generally don't want to look for popular music anyway; even in Beethoven's time, only a tiny minority actually encountered his music while the rest were probably content with traditional folk songs of the era. Complexity isn't the aim of popular music. Personally, I don't think it is always desireable in creating a good listening experience, but that's just me. I prefer to hear the output of a small group of people rather than an entire orchestra. A score written for two guitars and a drumkit won't match up to full brass, percussion and woodwind sections as well as a string quartet in terms of overall complexity, but the individual contributions on a technical and artistic basis can nevertheless be equal or better.

Anyhow, I guarantee that there is plenty of orchestral music out there still being created if that's your thing; it's hardly fair to say that music has dumbed down in any way shape or form.

Strange selection of bands IMO...

Coldplay are far too overrated, but Nickleback suck to a horribly vast degree. Death Cab for Cutie, Panic! At the Disco and Fallout Boy just fail.

NiN, Nirvana, SOAD and Radiohead are solidly decent bands.

Pearl Jam.

There is no band, singer, entertainer, street corner poet, chain saw juggler, mime I hate more then Pearl Jam.

Without a doubt the most over played over rated group to have ever stained the pages of rock history.

Followed closely by Radiohead...garbage.

However, I would have liked to pick:

Haha, made me laugh...but they're not that bad. Not even close to any of their popular contemporaries or their previous incarnation (Mother Love Bone), though. For me they're like the "nothing" band of that era...I can't hate them, since they don't rub me the wrong way... but there's nothing especially good about them either...

U2

Yeah, it's weird, when I think about it I like a few of their songs. It's just that they're both overplayed, and ridiculously popular.

Bono's charity thing pisses me off as well. I read an article last year about U2 using tax loopholes to avoid supporting people in their own country. *@&%!

I'm with Nadkor and Newer Burmecia; voting Radiohead will bring you suffering.

I don't know a few of the bands on the poll (Fallout Boy? Not on Radio 2's playlist. Panic! At the Disco? I thought that was a Kylie Minogue song.), and most of those I do I'm indifferent to.

But Radiohead are ace.

Nickelback are terrible, but Fall Out Boy just.....suck. Horrifically.I can't describe how much I hate them, or how much it annoys me to see 14 year old emo girls (or boys? I can never tell.) dancing around like silly little bastards to one of their songs.

I seriously, SERIOUSLY have a thing about Nickleback... just can't stand them. I dunno what it is, but they rub me worse than all the emo bands out there put together. With the possible exception of Fallout Boy. They come close. But Nickleback take it.

Radiohead, Nirvana, NIN and SOAD are all excellent bands.

Chilli Peppers are cool, but only because I don't listen to the radio and hear them every 10 minutes.. I can see how THAT would become annoying.

What, in the same way the Sex Pistols can be linked to Simple Plan? You cannot blame an artist for who chooses to listen to and be inspired by them. The Chilis are a fabulous band with fantastic lyrics, great musical integrity, and, obviously, something called staying power. Why does it matter if they're at all connected to Fergie? If you don't like her, just don't choose her music.

Without exageration when my little cousin played "Elderly Woman behind a counter in a small town" for me I was made physically ill and did indeed vomit.

No other music or band has ever successfully made me vomit, thats all I can say. Musically they are indeed merely mundane. I actually prefer MLB to Pearl Jam.

Husker Du is an excellent example of a band that is better then Radio Head...

In my opinion.

That is of course the rub, this is all completely subjective.

In objectivity no band is really better or worse then another unless we are speaking of technical proficiency, in which I would surmise very few people actually have an understanding of what that involves in totality.

That being being said,

Radio Head does indeed suck.

Just not as bad as Pearl Jam.

Picking a good Sisters song is a bit of an exercise in futility. "More" is good. Yes, but "I Was Wrong" is really good, too. Yes, but "Alice" is incredible. Yes, but "Floorshow" is just so good. Yes, but "Some Kind of Stranger" is really good...

etc.

While I like "This Corrosion", it isn't even the highpoint of the "Floodland" album (for me).

This is my point. It's all subjective, really.

However, when you take into account the fact that some bands write songs that sound almost exactly the same as each other, you have to say that they flat-out suck, because hey, they do.

Which is why Nickelback are the most horrifyingly awful band in years.

Well i rate bands on what i like and how they are alrgely infalliable in their inability to make many shit songs and those that do.

I can't find anything to like about My Chemical Romance or Head Automatica, but i may or may like at least one Fall Out Boy song or a Panic at the Disco song, however i'd always flick through radio channels hoping to find something better.
I very much doubt i'd ever buy their albums or ask someone to steal a copy for me.

If i ever got an Ipod that is the shit that would just be filler because i don't have 50 billion songs to listen to.

I largely hate...
Nirvana
Pearl Jam
Nickel back
Many others..
..........who may have 2 good songs or at least but are just blah, Nickel back especially because most of their osngs appear to be the same shit.

The Killers
Red Leather Mastabatory Aid(I really hate these guys)
Others(too many to think about)
