One of the things I like most about free speech is the ability to piss people off. With a word or two you can turn someone into a ranting lunatic. Well, a joke on a sign recently caused a stir in Ocala, FL. The sign is changed weekly to a new joke. One of the recent jokes was "What has 4 wheels and flies? A dead cripple in a wheelchair". The joke might not be funny, but people's angry reactions to it amuse me.

The joke isn't all that funny, but they can put whatever they want on the sign.

The whole thing with Imus was that he made his comments on a show that is on the air because of sponsors. These companies decided they didn't want their names associated with a dumbass, and pulled their support. Without support, CBS Radio doesn't make a profit. For the company, it's a simple cost/benefit analysis: The show cost more, literally and figuratively, then they were willing to pay. Thus, he got fired. I think the suspension was enough, myself.
