Maybe. I dunno if it'd be entirely worth it, considering I already own the Silmarillion and know the basic plotline.

Barnes and Nobles lets you read their books for free. They even put comfy chairs in there apparently.

I haven't been in one for years though, so it might have changed.

I'm a big Silmarillion fan already, and the parts of the story out of Unfinished Tales that is now published in a separate book are quite interesting. I have always liked the tragic story of Túrin Turambar. And I think that so far Christopher has done a very good job in editing and publishing his father's work. Only the Tolkien estate and its lawyers suck (because of the maps thing, you know).

Not until I hear some reviews from sources I trust.

is christopher tolkien not in charge of the estate?Kind of. I'm not so sure if he really is in detail behind everything that the estate's lawyers are doing.

My local library is sure to get their hands on a copy...I'll just get it from there.

If I likes, I buys.

naw, I won't.
I rate it alongside Brian Herbert's 'Dune' stuff: Just using the old man's name to make money for yourself, cause your own writing would never sell as much.

Let him rest in peace.

No. I already have read the Narn i Hin Hurin in the History of Middle-Earth series (I think it was in the War of the Jewels).

Let him rest in peace.?? What do you mean? It is Tolkien's own work just put into publishable form by his son.
