You're standing in a meeting room, and all of a sudden a wave of molten metal "flows into the room".
I'm not sure they would find much later, or even be able to extract your carbonized remains from the solid steel later.
A horrible way to die.

What an odd and random, yet painful way to die. Talk about really being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Ouch. Would've been a perfect opportunity for "My eyes, the googles do nothing" though. If I find myself in the right situation, thinking straight and remember... those will be my last words.
It's the metal that melts in your brain and not in your hand!
Sorry, sorry...

You couldn't exactly bury them either, and you'd have to bury a block of steel instead.
This is the perfect example on how it is OK to make certain jokes about people dying as long as they are not american. I wonder if 32 chinese people dying in molten metal mean less than 32 american people dying in a shootout.
There's less likely to be Chinese people here that'll get offended.

I only hope these guys didn't suffer.
Not to be graphic, but it reminds me of a special I saw once on the History Channel about the ancient Roman city Herculaneum. It was a costal town just west of Mt. Vesuvius and was destroyed in the same eruption that buried Pompei.
The people had all gone down to the shore and taken shelter in these arched alcoves on the cliffs at the beach, which were normally used to store boats. That's where they were when the pyroclastic flow hit.
The preserved shapes were discovered recently by archaeologists. The people died quickly, but not so fast that they didn't contort in pain :( The worst part about it was that the skulls had blown open as the brains vaporized. (Apparently this is normal when the brain matter is heated very rapidly) I won't go into any further detail, but it was a disturbing sight. This is the mental image that comes to mind when I think of these men and the molten metal.

Oh don't worry....there will be jokes hitting the net (if they haven't already) regarding the tragic events in the US.
I also would like to say that just because one makes a quip or a joke that they do not think less of any innocents who die. Well I don't. Both incidents in the US and China are tragic.

Some people in the forums, including authorities, are extremely sensitive regarding jokes from the Virginia Tech University shootings, american or not. I am remarking the fact that joking about chinese people dying in molten metal is no better, and yet it doesn't rise any kind of reaction.
I didn't say americans only care when americans die. Read what you quote.
The Virginia Shootout opening post wasn't a joke. People said jokes later. In the same fashion as this thread. I do not condone the jokes over there, nor here. But I do notice a double standard.
And Khadgar, no. I am not interested in such jokes, as I find it sad, and in an extremely bad taste. I would get a ban, or the best I will get is post deletion. However, the jokes of Ifreann and Rubiconic Crossings in this thread will remain largely unpunished or unnoticed.

Absolutely...I did joke about this event and I must apologize if I offended anyone with the joke. It was an attempt to alleviate the stress of the situation and aid in coping, and does not under any circumstances mean that I value the lives of those Chinese miners less than I value the lives of Virgina Tech students.

I don't know what you think, I wouldn't know even if you are in front of me, if you feel bad or not, if you find it tragic or not. People judge people by their actions, that include writing posts and talking, and not by their thoughts, that are private and absolutely unknown.
Thanks for the apology, Kyronea, in any case. I hope you did get my point.

Double Standard: A joke was posted in the thread about the Virginia Tech University, for the sake of the sources, the joke was about renaming the campus "Virginia Tec-9", by a poster using the name of "Fellatio Towers". It was dealt by the moderators with post deletion, including a message of deletion saying "Go away troll", and the deletion of the posts quoting it. Most of posters right there added the joke was made in extremely bad taste. Personally, I back that statement, although my personal views do not affect my argument right now.
This thread is about an incident involving the death of exactly the same amount of people, but due to entirely different reasons, and from a different country (Yes, I am taking out the american shooter in the body count). Jokes have been posts there, including yours. They haven't been deleted or criticized, by the forums authorities or the other posters until the fact was remarked.
That is a double standard. Some statements are treated in a certain ways, and others, pretty similar, aren't. Post deletion is censorship, good or bad, with or without good reasons. What calls my attention is why said censorship on the Nationstates General Forums affects certain issues, and not others. I study censorship, and free speech, as part of my professional life. This issue raised my attention and that is why I am bringing this out.
I am not moaning. I am pointing out a relevant, or at least interesting issue. I hope you understand now.

I worked with steel in the past, but never on that scale. Still..its a rather horrific thought. The only thing worse would presumably be surviving in some manner.
The Brit politician David Blunketts father died in such a way. Having fallen into a vat of boiling water, he took a month to die.

I'd rather the molten steel than boiling water - the steel would be pretty quick.
I've heard of accidents at hot springs at Yellowstone that are like the incident you describe - I'd rather not take a month to die in agony.

I've not even really read the VT thread after the first page or so as I figured it would turn into a slanging match.
Ooh. Painful. On the other hand, I haven't been shot or had molten metal poured over me. I'd imagine this would at least be a quick way to go.
Unfortunately, Chinese workers are supposedly a dime a dozen- no one cares about the 20,000 who get killed in coal mine accidents every year, for starters.

"We don't need unions. This is already a worker's paradise."
But I have to say, I can't imagine having molten steel poured on to you as being that bad of way to go. Boiling water is one thing, but steel is not only a great deal hotter, it's also a much better conductor of heat than water. You won't feel a thing: You'll go into a rapid thermal shock, and then you're gone.
I visited a steel factory once, where these great big slabs of red hot steel rolled past me. The heat hit me in the face like a hammer, and I was at least a good twenty or thirty meters away, and like I said the metal wasn't even molten.
