Big news in the world of football. Especially since they were considered to the outsiders among bids from Italy and Croatia/Hungary. What do you guys think? IMO, it'll be good for the development of the game in Eastern Europe, although both countries have issues to work out before 2012.

Bully for PL and UA.
Also I'm happy because last time we italians hosted the World Cup corruption got a sharp rise because of the huge quantities of money being spended for the renewal of soccer stadia.

I also remember that WC stinking. No offence, but everyone played defensive. Except the eventual champions.

Yeah, after the recent months giving it to Italy would have looked a bit foolish.

*glares angrily in direction of AS Roma fans*

I'm sure the two countries will do a good job. At the moment I'm slightly worried (actually, I'm terrified) of what South Africa will do with the World Cup.

Yeah. Poland and Ukraine can be a bit rowdy and rough around the edges, but RSA is just nasty sometimes. And in RSA, of the stadiums scheduled to hold matches, has only ONE actually ready. The rest are still to be built (BUILT!) or upgraded. This isn't going to turn out well.

Give everyone Aids?
Or maybe make the final and then poison the opposition before the final like they did at the '95 Rugby World Cup?

Well they didn't give anyone Aids but someone did get their neck broken...
I think they got into a massive brawl with the Canadians too, unless that was the '91 World Cup.

You should have got him one of those T-shirts that people had during the World cup.

They've got three years to build them. Even Wembley took only five years from the day they started construction to the day the FA received the keys, and that was hardly a model of speed-building, now, was it?

Yeah, but this is RSA. Besides, they really shouldn't be spending money on these stadiums.

Sidenote: Neither Poland nor Ukrain has ever qualified for the final round in the EC.:p

Host nations get automatic qualification, don't they?

Ukraine has made the WC quarters, though, and are a strong chance to make Euro 2008.

True, it will be their first time (second if they qualify for next years.).

We should qualify for the 2008 finals.

I'm even confident that what I just wrote won't come back and prove me wrong. :p

So? I don't think it's a big deal. Especially for Ukraine, who've only been independent for 17 years.

If the WC and Euro went to the most successful teams, it would be Brazil, Germany and Italy every time :D

Are you Ukrainian?

We're a chance, but we have some tough games ahead. If we can pull off draws against France and Italy, we can do it.

Wait, what? I'm Polish, yes... I don't understand what Beenhakker has to do with it.

Though I recognise he is the main reason we're currently in a strong position in the qualification group.

His team is in the same group as France and Italy. He still thinks his team has a chance of qualification (which they probably don't :p ).

I'd say he's Scottish. Or Ukrainian.

Hey, we deserved that. I don't wanna be like Brazil and be the only team never to win one at home.

And we SHOULD have won that by more. Offside my ass.

I'm Ukrainian, and Italy's being sucktacular right now. We CAN make it.

Technically, we're on top of the group now :P

I assumed you were Scottish (added the Ukrainian bit as an edit), hence I gave you little chance of qualification. Ukraine have a good chance. Italy are in inidfferent form, and Shevchenko isn't even playing at his best atm.

France will qualify, but I wouldn't be surprised if Ukraine qualify ahead of Italy.

I read today a column from a Polish journalist where he said the Polish government builds about 1 Km of highway a year. And his Swedish friend still believed they visited a historical, medieval ruin instead of a Polish football stadium.
