I always find interviews with the movers and shakers of the world quite interesting. So here's another one:

'If the EU Doesn't Want Us, They Should Say it Now'

In an interview with DER SPIEGEL, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan discusses Iran's nuclear program, Turkey's geopolitical role, its ties with the European Union and his difficult relationship with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

What do you reckon? This is of course the same guy who wants to become President, which the seculars in the country think is a very bad idea.

I had a dream the other night, and it revealed to me a great idea about a peace proposal in the middle east, and it included Turkey, and Iran.

I am all for a Kurdish state, so i had this dream that in exchange for a Kurdistan state, Turkey would be able to get automatic membership in the EU, and Iran would be allowed to have a nuclear program, under the watchful eye of the UN of course. Then again, that would leave Iraq and Syria with a Kurdish population. So maybe relax embargo (if there is one) on Syria, and open up big time in diplomacy, maybe have Israel give back the heights(which a Kurdistani state would be a major ally to the Israelis). As for Iraq, its in such a state that the kurds could rebel and have join the state real easily.

Anyways, I'm saying that If Turkey wants to be part of the EU, they should help in the creation of a Kurdish state. That way they ensure that they have helped the world in some way. :)

Hey wait, hold on, hold on. That's just a bit too much common sense there, how about we back up here and try and think of something more realistic.

Like nuke Israel/Iran or both. Now that's some clear thinkin' there.

The trick is not to think with your mind, but feel with your heart.

Ignorance and rage helps too.

To achieve what?

To beat the opponents of freedom and democracy and bring peace to the middle east of course, amongst most of our other problems.

You just need to quit "thinking", and start "feeling".

Right, when has logic ever worked? Everyone knows emotion and gut feeling is the best route to peace!

From what I"ve seen, maybe the seculars in the country are right. Never demand anything while trying to negotiate.

Correcting for the failures of our forbearers in designing the political divisions of the Middle East. I like, I like.

Why should Turkey, which has only ever acted responsibly and in support of regional stability, be punished by losing its eastern territories?

I support a Kurdish state, but at the expense of Iraq and Syria, not Turkey.

Well, its like this, the kurds want the choice to self determination, they should be able to have it, whether it be from Turkey, iraq, or where ever.

People should be able to exercise their right to self-determination regardless of the country they are in.

And what about the Turks right to "self-determination"?

Last time I checked, they have their own nation. You know, Turkey.

But whats that? The Kurds don't!

http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/war/images/dist-kurdish.gif

Do Turks really have an automatic right to Kurdistan when there isn't even a majority Turk population, and the Kurds there have never, ever, been asked whether they want this situation or not?
