Favoirte Childrens Show
On an unrelated search I found out that Reading Rainbow had been discontinued. This saddens me as I loved that show as a kid and watched it religiously. I also loved 3 2 1 Contact and Square One Television.
What did you watch way back in the day before you discovered more non-educational fare?

My childhood tv experiences were Barney, and The Price Is Right.
My babysitter introduced my to day-time tv. :)
I was obsessed with Sesame Street, to the point where I actually developed an American accent.
But now I barely remember any of it :(

It's true, in Poland there is no children's television. Or KFCs.
Does Law & Order count as a children's show? I've watched that since I was five, and it is sort of educational.
Otherwise, the most "educational" show I watched was Captain Planet, which taught me many lessons about life and the environment, the most important one being: "Australians are lazy bastards who hate the environment and want only to mooch off the efforts of the people living on other continents."

Let's see, where to begin...
Among others, I liked reruns of M*A*S*H (still do), Fraggle Rock, The Muppet Show, Beakman's World, Reading Rainbow, Shining Time Station, and Bugs Bunny.
I'm sure there's more, I just can't think of them at this moment.:p

That, and Transformers.
Unfortunately, I was a little too young to catch the Transformers on their original UK run. A massive fan now, but I can't say I was ever a fan as a wee wain.
I also seem to remember particularly liking Family Ness, Art Attack, Re:Boot, Count Duckula, Trapdoor and Dangermouse.
As for more recent shows, Roger & The Rottentrolls and Poco Yo! are clear standouts.

Power rangers, Knightmare, Crystal maze, Captain Scarlet, Thunderbirds, Terrahawks, Bucky O'Hare, Pirates of Dark Water, Transformers, Sooty, Brum, Sesame Street.

Sesame Street, Sesame Street, and more Sesame Street. I dearly loved that show as a child. (Heck, I still watch it occasionally, although there's not nearly enough Grover or Bert & Ernie nowadays.)
I was also a big fan of 3-2-1 Contact (I even subscribed to their magazine), Square One (especially Mathnet), Captain Kangaroo, and Mr. Rogers's Neighborhood.

The Uncle Floyd show.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncle_Floyd
Part of the variety format of the show included in-studio appearances by many rock and roll acts, sometimes lip-syncing and sometimes performing live, making clear that the show was not aimed only at children.
Among the many acts (both nationally known and local talent) appearing were The Ramones (multiple appearances, some captured on a recent DVD release), NRBQ, Bon Jovi, Chubby Checker, Cyndi Lauper, The Boomtown Rats, Eddie Money, Blue Öyster Cult, John Mellencamp, David Johansen (also known as Buster Poindexter), The Misfits, The Smithereens, Jan & Dean, Agnostic Front, Dramarama, Squeeze, Aztec Two-Step, Thor (the singer/bodybuilder), TV Toy, WKGB, Humans From Earth, The John Earl Walker Band, Blotto, Gary U.S. Bonds, Rachel Sweet, The Rattlers, The Feelies, Shrapnel, The Bongos, U.S.Ape, Fats Deacon & the Dumbwaiters, R. Stevie Moore, The Buttermilk Mountain Revue, The Plastics (also known as Plastics), Zoogz Rift, Crash Course In Science, The Stickmen, Z'ev, Rebecca Williams, The Phones (also known as The Responsible Teenagers), The Brains, Rupert Holmes, Dave Edmunds, Rick Derringer, The Marshall Tucker Band, Peter Tork and Davy Jones of The Monkees (separately), Steel Pulse, The Lords of the New Church, Johnny Science, The Dead Boys, Pussy Galore, The Payolas, Joan Armatrading, Tiny Tim, The Fiendz, Noble Gas , and Elliott Kappel.
You've got to love a kids show that features the Misfits.

When I was REALLY young, which I guess goes up to about 6, I can vaguely recall Transformers, Exo-squad and damnit, it seems like there should be more. I do remember however, buying the toys to the R-rated movies I could never see like Aliens and Starship Troopers.
From about 7 - 10 I liked Beast Wars, oh god did I love Beast Wars.
Beast Wars to me was the end of the golden 90s era programming, when companies would introduce shows and have EXCELLENT toys to go along with them.
After that is when the Japanese stuff invaded our boarders, I.E. Digimon, Pokemon, Monster Rancher...
The last real Honest American cartoons I remember watching were Static Shock and The Jackie Chan adventures.
Though I do remember watching Rocky and Bullwinkle from 6:00 - 6:30 AM when I was 11 or so, that was high quality cartoon.

Fuck me, far too many to remember, though I think I've done a pretty good job.
