Funniest movie EVER!

What is the funniest movie y'all have ever seen? For me, it would have to be, hands down, Blazing Saddles. That movie is comedic genius! Trust me, I am not elaborating on the genius part. Not even Eddie Murphy or the Wayne Brothers could match Mel Brooks Blazing Saddles. This movie made fun of everyone! I bolded that last part because some people tend to get hung up on how many times they used the word ******. Anyways, like I said, this movie made fun of everyone! Blazing Saddles is just comedy gold. If you don't find it funny, then you need to get a sense of humor.

I'm not commenting on its general appeal or its rating against all other movie or anything like that, this is only based on my reaction when I saw it-I had to be helped to the car as I was still laughing after watching Cabin Boy.

Of Brooks' films, I prefer Young Frankenstein, but it's just a question of personal taste. The Beatles, Help!, has a lot of good laughs in it as well. Then, of course, there's any of the Monty Python films.

Blazing Saddles is really funny- but I didn't care for the ending too much.

Love The Beatles, Hard Days Night cracked me up for a while.

My favorite comedy is probably Snatch... my favorite Guy Ritchie movie is Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels... but Snatch is the funnier of the two. (Lock Stock is more ironic). That, or maybe Galaxy Quest. They're both movies I pop in when I'm in a bad mood.

Funniest movie overall? Hands down it's Dr. Stranglove. Better than anything Mel Brooks wrote, by far. Best Mel Brooks movie would be Young Frankenstein, but I suspect that's more because of Gene Wilder's involvement. But I think Life of Brian is slightly funnier than Young Frankenstein.

...Cabin Movie was the worst movie ever created! It wasn't funny, it wasn't interesting, it wasn't anything! I'd have to stoned retarded to laugh at it, and if I was that stoned I'd think Schindler's List is the funniest movie of all times!

...which it is.

I love that movie! Mel Brooks movies are the funniest ever. Robin Hood: Men in Tights, his last, was just as good, and History of the World: Part I was great. The Twelve Chairs was also a good one.

La Momia Azteca Contra El Robot Humano (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0050717/). Just saying the name is enough to make anyone giggle, and the final battle between the world's worst special effect (that is, el Robot Humano, himself) and the titular mummy is so marvelous as to put even the final battle of Aliens to Shame.

It is harder to select among "purposefully funny", because a lot of that depends on my mood, so I'll cheat and name a couple: Murder by Death, Take the Money and Run or Thank You for Smoking.

Well, "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" is the exceedingly obvious choice. I can certainly think of quite a few other contenders, though. Leaving out movies that have already been mentioned in this thread, one must, must, must include "The Producers" (the original version, of course) in any discussion of great comedic movies. I'd say "The Court Jester" and "The Princess Bride" also deserve mentions for being adorably funny in their own unique and timeless ways.

Oh, and of course "Manos: The Hands of Fate" needs to be mentioned as well. Just because it wasn't supposed to be funny doesn't mean it's not very, very funny indeed. :p

When I was watching the Return of the King, it paused randomly when Rohan was preparing to charge the Orcs in the back (as the White City was being sieged) and then started up like a minute later. It wasn't necessarily funny, but the first cinema "messup" or film cut.

That may be, but I don't think you can deny the fascists undertones of Starship Troopers. However, at that point in time it might've been more of critique and not so much his personal philosophy. Yes you can. In no way was the system he set up in Starship Troopers fascist: there was no racial, gender, or ethnic prejudice to be seen in his government, the government (although admittedly this was not much discussed in the book) did not seem to interfere overly into the private civic or economic lives of its citizens, and the people seemed largely free to do what they wished. The only real consideration that you might draw upon to claim Heinlein's system was "fascist" was his restricted notion of franchise: voting was limited to those who had participated in civil service and were not active-duty military. This is tempered by the fact that any person who wishes can be part of the civil service, and the civil service must accomodate you if you wish to serve. That is hardly the definition of fascism; the government in Troopers is more democratic than such models of fascism as the Roman Republic, Athens, and pre-Civil War America.

I don't really like comedies, but Bad santa (especially around christmas) is good, and of course Return of The Killer tomatoes.

Killer Tomatoes, ha!
I haven't seen that in ages, and attack of the Nerds etc.

Spaceballs-another one of Mel Brooks films. It still makes me laugh.I watched the end half that the other day... I remember liking it, but then I was just 'oh... ok... um... what's on next?'

Personally, I loved Napolean Dyanamite, but so what? It's comedy.

I have seen no evidence to support this claim.

I've never seen Napolean Dynamite, but it appears opinion on it is quite polarized. What's good/bad about it?

I'm not commenting on its general appeal or its rating against all other movie or anything like that, this is only based on my reaction when I saw it-I had to be helped to the car as I was still laughing after watching Cabin Boy.

"My christening wig!!"

I didnt find much else funny with that, though. I guess I'm not a Chris Elliot fan.

I dont know if it was mentioned yet, but "Raising Arizona" was damn funny.

Has anyone said Blues Brothers yet? If so, I'll say it again.

The Blues Brothers. *nods*

I agree. Almost every line, every scene was funny.

And how about "Old School" ?

Will Ferrel shooting himself in the neck with a traquilizer dart and then stumbling into the pool?
That was great.

Ben Stiller's bowel problem in "Along Came Polly" ?

Ben Stiller almost shooting Drew Barrymore with a spear gun in "Duplex" ?

No one else finds Blues Brothers funny?
"How much for the little girl? How much for the women?"
"What?"
"Your women. I want to buy your women. The little girl, your daughters... sell them to me. Sell me your children. "

"Any unessessary violence used in the aprehension of the Blues Borthers has been approved"

I still reckon the League of Gentlemen film was better.

If you have one or two slightly stupid friends, that find themselves hilarious, but you find them kind of painful to be around...

You have seen 'Napolean Dynamite'. But cheaper, one assumes.

Think of a teen movie. Ok? Now remove every bit of fun, humor, upbeat music, and personality from the characters and you have Napolean Dynamite. It's like a book about a lazy summer made into a film ad made even lazier and set during school.

What one person funds hilarious, another will find inane.

Personally, I loved Napolean Dyanamite, but so what? It's comedy. There is no accounting for taste in comedy.
Well, except for Dennis Leary, Carlos Mencia and Dane Cooke, but that's because they steal material, not because they aren't unfunny.

While I respect your tastes in comedy, I hate this movie more than I hate white guys pretending to Portarican. Why? Because my ex girlfriend loves this movie and so everytime we watched a movie it was this one. I'm just that unselfish a person :(
